before I launch into my retelling of my travels in the year 2001, in the land so far away called Japan, I'd first like to thank a couple people that made my trip to Japan so memorable...
my new Japanese friend, Akiyoshi - he who gave me
the ultimate hookup. I still can't believe I was so close for the concerts at the Forum (06/17) and the Shibuya-Ax (06/19), giving
me a direct line view of the fabulous Nick Rhodes (and many a wink). Akiyoshi, look me up the next time
you're in *our* nation's capital - I promise you, our subway system is much more easier to negotiate than
the Tokyo one - *grin* - THANK YOU so much for making a dream of mine come true. (editor's note - yes, as you probably
guessed, this is the same Akiyoshi who sent in set lists to Katy!)
my EB partner in crime, Tina - it was really sweet of you to offer me
the tickets to Japan - I didn't think my parents would go for it but to my surprise they relented - thank goodness! it was great
hanging with you, and everyone else I'd only known online - Michelle, Kim, Christy, Amber, et al. I had a great
time meeting you all!
dear old Dad - thank you for putting up with me, your Duran Duran
crazy daughter. and taking care of me when I got sick. what else are parents for? *smile* thank you for humoring me during this
trip, this pilgrimage to see my favorite band in the world.
Joe Travers and Wes Wehmiller - I don't think I was officially
introduced to you guys - but Joe, I think you remember me, I was the chick in the blue dress hanging around Tina *grin* - loved your Iggy
t-shirt and the diamonds. Wes, liked the nail polish and the hair. I'm gonna miss you guys! Rock on.
Warren - our "Waz" - I'm already crying thinking about you leaving. SENM and OW
aren't going to ever be the same without you. good luck with Missing Persons, I'm going to miss you...BIG TIME. I'll
tell Shell to give you a huge hug from me, next time she sees you.
Simon - you're such a ham! thanks for making me feel so special. you're my
6 foot tall teddy bear! do you remember me, I was that little pipsqueak you had to bend over for, when I got my picture taken with you. *smile* please
play Washington D.C. again. pretty please? with a cherry on top?
Nick - I'm the little lamb ('79) and you're the tiger ('62) - get my birthday card now? see, you're supposed
to be chasing *me* - the ferocious tiger chasing the little lamb *grin*. it was fabulous to finally meet you. you really
are Mr. Style. I meant to discuss with you "Mars Meets Venus" but as usual I probably missed my
opportunity to talk to you about something meaningful. I really meant everything I said in the STR book - look me up sometime. I love you! hope to see you again (in person) on the next tour - or maybe real soon?
Duranie hugs to all my STR gals, and all my buddies over at SB, DDA, EB, and GG!
