Once in a while I'll see something in relation to the Devils that's worthy of posting. So far - here's
two amusing references from the comic world, plus new in July '03 - two scans that are long overdue in their posting.
from July '03:
The story behind this one is kind of funny. Jennie's out 'cross the Pond and so I,
having no means of getting to Camden for this gig, asked her to get me something from Stephen. our original
plan was to have her nick his jacket (just kidding Stephen...hehehe), and she was going to buy him a
pint but that didn't work out (because he already had a Guinness) so instead she went up to him and asked him
to sign this piece of paper for me. She told me the whole story later on about how he remembered who
I was (I practically fell over hearing this) and was happy enough to sign this, despite his Devilish partner
in crime being absent. One of these days I will show Mr. Rhodes this and maybe he can sign where the question mark
is now, but in the meantime, I've got it framed and sitting in a place of honour on my bedroom dresser.
Jennie *must* be Lady Luck in disguise. Not only has she met Stephen Duffy, she's also met Duran Duran recently - at Gatwick
Airport of all places - upon their return from a trip to Italy. And even better, she's coming to this side of the Atlantic
next week to see Duran Duran perform 3 - count 'em 3 - times next week. If I were any greener with envy,
people would start mistaking me for the Incredible Hulk.
thanx so much Jennie and I know you'll have a fab time carousing with DD next week. *grin*

One of the best birthday presents I've had in a *long* time. Gary, you're a doll.
from February '03:
Let's face it. Finding a reference to this website (or me - ha!) in print will be next to impossible. This "Mother Goose and Grimm"
comic from January 23 in the Washington Post comes awfully close.
Can you blame him? Come on, it was devil's food cake! *canned laughter*
Gary Larson's comic strip "The Far Side" was by far my favorite cartoon for many years, until a couple years back
when he decided to discontinue the strip. One paneled strips have that *punch* that multi-paneled ones
often do not - simply because if the comic is going to be successful, it has one chance, and that's
it.
Just something interesting I found flipping through my copy of The PreHistory of the Far Side:
A 10th Anniversary Exhibit by Gary Larson (1990, Andrews and McMeel, p.216).
For those not familiar with the Lilac Time, there's a TLT single (circa 1989) entitled "Welcome to Hell...Here's Your Accordion." The first
time I read that I thought "hmmm...pretty nonsensical, very non sequitur." (There's
no song with that title on the single - the "single" is actually the song "American Eyes.")
Is Stephen a Gary Larson fan? Definitely something to ask him. Maybe he's just as twisted as I am. (And I say that
with the utmost respect! *smile*)
