A Familiar Stranger
Standing on the balcony, HunterKai looked out into the forest. A cold wind was blowing, but he didn't feel it. Glancing downward, he could see some of the APEC clones on the battlements, making their nightly rounds. Even after living in the castle for several months now, he still couldn't bring himself to call them his brothers. In his mind, he was still an anti-Kai and found it very hard to interact with the others. He was still an outsider.

Her slim arms circled his waist. A familiar jolt ran through his body, the same one that always happened when she was near. Turning slightly, he pulled Lily into his arms. Looking down into her beautiful violet eyes, he again felt the rush of emotion only she could cause. Lily was the reason he was still here. Without her, he'd have disappeared from this place long ago. She was his life, his reason for being.

Lily rested her chin on his chest. The wind had wiped her white streaked purple hair about her face. "You were being serious weren't you?" Lily's soft, musical voice was bearly heard over the howl of the wind.

HunterKai smiled slightly, "Yes, I was."

Lily pouted, "I don't like when your serious." HunterKai chuckled and planted a kiss on her forehead.

"I'm sorry, I'll try to be less serious." Feeling Lily shiver, HunterKai realized she was standing there in her robe and bare feet. He quickly scooped her up and carried her back inside. "Lily, what do you think you're doing? You know how easily you get sick." HunterKai sat her on the bed and grabbed a pair of thick socks from the dresser. Kneeling in front of her, he gently put them on her cold feet.

"I know," Lily pouted, "But I couldn't sleep. You know I can't sleep without you."

HunterKai stood up, smiling down at her, "Ok, I'm here, now into bed."

A few minutes later, Lily was sound asleep, curled up in HunterKai's arms. Pressing his lips to her forehead, HunterKai thanks the fates that had brought Lily into his life. At that moment, HunterKai felt like he belonged.
