Spring Renewl
Haveing a non-human mistress could be... intresting. You never quite knew what to expect. And when she was half plant, it could get down right bizare. But give him credit, Kai13 was dealing very well with Fields of Heather's different needs.

Heather had told him what to was going to happen. He'd been exspecting it for some time now. But he wasn't as prepared as he thought.

*thump*

Kai13 stopped his shoveling. He looked around, wondering what that noise had been. It was faint, without his inhanced hearing he would have missed it. Seeing nothing, he went back to digging the hole for the new sapling. With the young tree firmly in the ground, he walked down the shaded path. As he lowered another sapling into the ground, he heard it again.

*thump*

This time, he cocked his head and listened. He heard nothing but the cooing of a morning dove in the tree behind him. He quickly finished planting the last tree. He carryed the shovel back to the greenhouse.

*thump* *thump*

This time he heard which way it was coming from. Walking down one of the lesser used paths he listened intently.

*thump*

Kai13 walked into a small stone courtyard. In the center of it was a small raised fountain. A stone crocodile crawled up out of the center of the pond, water spouting out of it's open upraised jaws. Heather sat on a small stool, her back to him. She pulled a water hyacinth out of a bucket, it's long roots wet and dripping, and gentley placed it in the fountain.

Kai13 frowned, he *knew* the noise had come from the courtyard, but as he looked around he could see nothing out of the ordinary. He watched as Heather leaned forward with another plant in hand.

*thump*

Kai13 stared at the vine laying on the ground. The one that had just a moment ago been hanging from Heather's back. The one that had just fallen off.

*thump*

He watched, mouth hanging open as another vine snapped off at it's base, hitting the ground. Somewhere in the back of his shocked mind, Kai13 remembered Heather telling him about this. That during the winter, the vines that grew from her back became nearly lifeless and that in the spring, she would shed them and grow new vines.

Kmowing this didn't lessen the impact

*thump* *thump*thump*

Heather arched her back, sighing. Reaching over her shoulder, she scratched the new skin the vines had revealed. "It's about time." Heather stood up, rolling her shoulders, as if she had just shed a great weight. Heather noticing Kai13, smiled at his shell-shocked expresion, "What? You act like you're never seen me before?" Heather fairly giggled with delight as she twirled around, free at last of the dead weight of her old vines.

"Won't the girls be surprised to see me now?" Heather danced over to Kai13, who seemed to have lost his voice. "I can hardly wait for the new ones to grow in. I swear, I feel like an octopus with only two arms." Throwing her arms around his neck, she kissed him on the cheek. Letting go, she twirled around and skipped down the shaded path, as giddy as a school girl.

Kai13 found his tongue but all that came out was, "Uuuh." He turned around, watching Heather skipping and laughing. "Uhhh.... H.. Heather??" Kai13 coughed, "Heather, is..... is there anything else... I should know about?"

Only feather light giggles answered him.

"Heather???"

"HEATHER?!?!?!"
