Rhino sat nearby, using the utmost care as he scratched the stray he'd named Doggie. Rhino was simply an attempt to make a stronger anti-Kai. It didn't work. He'd come out the size of a small mountain with the IQ of a child.

And she.... well, what could be said of a genetic nightmare. Not even she knew from how many sources her DNA came. All she knew was what it told her, what is whispered to her....

Smiling softly, she looked into Scar's eyes, "Besides, I have unfinished business at the castle." Looking inward, she listened to the whisperings, "I must... finish what my mother started."

Two weeks later....

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing." HunterKai tossed another pebble off the battlements. It tumbled end over end until plopping into the moat. "It's like the Ripper dropped off the face of the earth."

"Not likely." KillerKai stood next to him, watching the tree line like a hawk. He'd been sticking close to the castle for the last several weeks. "I think that he's still out there, no matter what the rumors say."

HunterKai snorted, "Rumors. Everyday there's another one. There's so many now, their getting as thick as Demo's head."

"Hey, I heard that!" Hunter and KK turned as Demo walked up, grinning.

Hunter raised an eyebrow, "Does Disco know your here?"

Demo kept right on grinning, "What he don't know won't hurt him." Hunter looked at KK, who rolled his eyes. HunterKai shook his head and looked back out at the forest, wondering if the Ripper was still out there. Wondering what he was doing, why is he being quiet. Is he biding his time? If so, what for?

Meanwhile, elsewhere....

It had taken hours to get the stink of troll off her. Leaning back against Scar's body, she let the cold water stream over her, willing it to cool the fire within. "It's not working." Scar wrapped his arms around her waist, feeling her tremble. Her bloodlust was only partially quenched by the blood of trolls.

"Shhhhh, it'll be over soon." Scar whispered in her ear. She trashed around in his arms, growling. Scar held her tighter, "Just a little longer and they'll let their guard down." Holding her with one arm, he reached up and brushed a strand of wet black/green hair from her face, "Then... then babe, they won't know what hit them."

A Kai clone may not let his guard down individually, but as a whole.....

The guards that walked the battlements paid little attention to the two delivery trucks. They knew the companies well, one made weekly deliveries for the castle's kitchen, the other dropped off supplies for the garden and greenhouse.

Angelmay signed for the first one and stood back as Disco, YeoZaa and Kai21 unloaded the delivery. The first truck pulled away as boxes, crates and barrels were carried inside. The second truck moved up taking the first's place. Bags of soil were unloaded, several small saplings and a large crate beside them. These were taken around to the greenhouse. The trucks drove away, the gates were closed and life resumed.

Fields of Heather looked over her order sheet. "They shorted me a bag again."

"No they didn't." Kai13 tossed a bag ontop of the pile. "They just sent you a bag of gravel instead."

Heather growled, "This is the last time I order for that place, I've had nothing but trouble. What about the saplings and the fountain?"

Kai13 smiled slightly at Heather's annoyance, "The saplings are fine, I haven't checked the fountain yet."

"Leave it," Heather sighed, "I can't call them until tomorrow and I don't want to be in a bad mood all night if it's broken." After moving the saplings inside the greenhouse, they headed inside, leaving the crate and bags outside.

Night had fallen over the castle. Almost everyone was inside for the evening. The patrolling Kais took only a slight notice of the crate next to the greenhouse. None were around when the top of the crate slowly lifted up and to the side. A pair of softly glowing yellow eyes peered out. After a few minutes, she pulled herself out of the crate, swinging over the side. Landing softly, she shook the packing peanuts from her hair and pushed the crate's top back into place. Darting into the deeper shadows near the trees, she looked up at the castle. Smiling, she sank her claws into the bark of the tree, barely scratching it.

"So close, so very, very close." With that she darted off threw the garden, towards the castle.

The sounds of soft laughter drifted out into the halls around the Great Hall. Sitting around the large fireplace, Revo, Doffy, dishroom princess, and Twilight laughed at some joke dgre had just told. It was warm and cozy there, just like countless nights before. None of them realized there were being watched as they sipped their drinks.

Watching silently, she dug her claws into the wooden doorframe. She wanted to *so* badly. She fought the hot, burning desire, the longing for warm blood. "NO." she growled silently, "I'll play with them later." Slipping into the shadows, she moved off, wondering where Scar was. She should have come across him by now. She couldn't wait for him any longer, she would find him later.

Outside the library, the Nervous Skunk and Misty sit. There talking about the favorite topic among the castle's animals, the stupidity of humans. Twitching her ear, Misty turns around. "What?" asks TNS.

"I thought I heard something." Misty looks around, ears twitching. Sitting back down she turns back to TNS, "I guess not, must be hearing things." Neither saw a shadowy figure move off down the hallway towards the stairs.
