The Block, south side of Realityville

Tammy leaned against the side of a building. It was a slow night. So slow in fact, that half the girls on The Block had gone home. They weren't gonna spend the night out here with no money to make. She took one last puff from her cigarette before crushing it with the toe of her red pumps. Tammy was sure some of the girls had used the slow night as an excuse just to get out of here. Weird things were going on and most of the girls where scared.

"Did'ja hear?" Tammy looked up at Angie. She was one of the new girls around here. Angie was visibly shaking, her arms crossed over her pink halter top. She had the look of a frightened rabbit about to bolt out of here. "They found Chrissy, last night. Just like the others." Tammy kicked off from the wall and put an arm around Angie's shoulders.

"Head on back Ang, something freaky's going on. Just tell Jay your feeling sick." Angie nodded and practically ran off. Tammy watched her go a moment before shivering. This was bad. That made it three girls just this week. Tammy walked around a bit, hoping to calm her nerves. Stopping, she leaned against the building. She was so caught up in her own thoughts she didn't notice that the street light had gone out and that she was standing in darkness.

"Biz is slow tonight, huh?" Tammy turned towards the strange voice when a hand clamped over her mouth. Struggling, she was pulled into an alley. She thrashed about, fighting the strong arm around her waist. She pulled at the hand, but something sharp dug into her checks, blood running down onto her shirt.

"Ooooo, I love it when they fight." Her blood ran cold as the person hissed in her ear. Her muscles froze up as she was dragged deeper into the alley.

Two hours later...

The alley was roped off with familiar yellow tape. The street was lite up with flashing lights. The girls of The Block had disappeared when the police cars showed up. Only the one that found the body was still here. The paramedics had finally calmed her down enough to do any thing other then scream. It would take hours to photograph the scene and several more to clean it up. Before the mutilated body was even taken away, the news had hit the streets...

The Realityville Ripper had struck again.

*****
Every morning a bundle of newspapers were dropped off at the castle gates. Usually, who ever was getting off the midnight watch would bring them inside. Today, it happened to HunterKai. Lily had convinced him (more like bullied him) into taking some guard duty. Picking up the large bundle he carried it into the Great Hall. Sitting it on a sideboard, he used his brace to cut the string away. The head line caught his eye.

REALITYVILLE GRIPPED BY FEAR
Ripper continues to elude police.

HunterKai frowned slightly. Kaitown's newspaper never put any articles about Realityville on it's front page. There was a long standing feud between the two. News about the other town was always pushed towards the back. This *must* be a big story to make front page. He picked up the top copy. He stood there reading the article. So intent was he, he didn't notice MyKai walk up. "Good morning, HunterKai." Hunter hide his surprise well, "Morning, MyKai."

MyKai frowned slightly, "What's wrong, you look like you just saw a ghost."

"Not quite." HunterKai turned the paper around for MyKai to see. Taking the paper, MyKai read the first few paragraphs. If it was at all possible, MyKai got paler then normal. MyKai looked up from the paper, "This is NOT good."

"The news is spreading like wildfire. The whole castle's a buzz." Fields of Heather sat on the stone ledge of the balcony. The heat had let up enough so that they could sit outside.

Lily nodded, brushing a strand of white streaked hair from her face. She looked up from her spot on the stone floor, "Yup, it's all they're talking about on TV. Every station is covering it."

Kai13 leaned against the wall next to the door, "It's kinda hard to believe. This has been happening for months and no one took much notice. They've only just now realized they have a serial killer on their hands."

"Not really," HunterKai stepped out onto the balcony, a special edition of the newspaper in his hands, "Look at the victims, pimps, prostitutes, drug dealers, gang members, criminals. He picked those no one was going to miss."

"He???" Heather and Lily chimed in at the same time.

Hunter rolled his eyes, "Don't start."

Lily frowned, ignored him, "What?? Just because most serial killers are men, doesn't mean this one is."

"Lily, do you think a woman would do this??" Hunter growled, hanging her a list of the known victims, along with brief descriptions of how they died, "These people were more then just murdered, they were butchered. Head's cut off, organs removed, blood smeared all over the place, they had to do DNA tests on some to figure out who they were. Some had their skin peeled off, *while* they were alive! They were probably awake when they were gutted and tied up with their own intestines. Do you think a woman could have done this??"

Hunter immediately regretted his tirade as Lily paled. She looked decidedly sick. Hunter knelt down next to her, pulling her into his arms, "I'm sorry." he said softly.

"It's not that." Lily shivered, biting her lower lip. She looked up at Hunter, then at Heather and Kai13, "What if he comes here??"
