| Kai13 stopped his assault on her ear, not wanting her so distracted she wouldn't remember what he said, "Maybe now you'll let me explain?" Holding her up with one arm, he caught her chin between his thumb and finger, turning her head gentlely towards him, "Before you jumped the gun... I was saying I'm sorry, but... I hope you'll understand why." He noticed that Heather's glazed over eyes had cleared and knew she was listening, "It's very frustrating for me when you run off somewhere. All I want to do is protect you but I can't when you keep running off on your adventures. It's even worse when you don't tell me about them until it's over. It hurts me to see you hurt and it pains me even more to think I might have prevented it." "I do understand." Heather's voice was soft as she trailed a finger across his cheek, "I know it's hard for you to not know where I'm going or what I'm doing sometimes. But that's who I am. I can't stop running off to help my friends when they need me. Asking me to stop is like asking the sun not to shine, or Jade not to slobber.... the Willows not to whomp.... Big Daddy not to snarl and snap.... Psy not to get into trouble.... MyKai not to be so an..." "Ahem" Kai13 interrupted and looked up. Heather followed his gaze and spotted a familiar shape moving along the battlements above them. Heather muffled her sudden laughter against Kai13's shoulder, even as it shook with his own silent chuckles. Composing himself, Kai13 couldn't keep a silly grin off his face, "I get your point." "Good." Wiping a few tears from her eyes, Heather smiled up at him, "I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have banished you to the doghouse." "I forgive you." Kai13 looked down at her with a familiar twinkle in his eye, "Since we're both so sorry, how about we go kiss and make up?" "OK." Heather wrinkled up her nose and tried to back away, just noticing the odor coming from his clothes, "AFTER you take a shower, you smell like a dog." Kai13 purposely tighten his grip, not letting Heather get away, a naughty grin on his face, "What? I don't stink do I?" He was rewarded with a withering glare as Heather tried to hold her breath. "How about I scrub your back if you scrub mine?" Heather gasped out, "Deal," before squealing as she was tossed over Kai13's shoulder. Ignoring her protests that she could walk just fine, Kai13 strode off, into and threw the Great Hall, past several of his brother's and their ladies, up the stairs, before kicking the door to their room shut behind him. |
