'Twas the night before Christmas and all threw the castle, not a creature was stirring, except Kai13.
He smiled slightly as he slipped a gold wrapped present under the tree. He had waited until Heather was deep asleep before sneaking out to the living room. While there was a large tree in the main hall, Heather had insisted they get a small one for their chambers and they had spent the day decorating it.
Kai13 looked around to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything. The fireplace was ready to be lite in the morning, the stereo was set to one of the local stations that would be playing Christmas music all day, her favorite blanket was laying over her chair, her favorite mug was sitting on the table next to the chair ready for the hot chocolate he would make her. Everything was ready.

Getting up from his spot infront of the tree, he slipped a small silver box in among it's branches. It was the gift he had spent almost three weeks looking for. He was sure she would love it. Turning the light off, he slipped back into the bedroom and into bed. Heather grumbled in her sleep and rolled over, snuggling against him. Smiling slightly, Kai13 slipped an arm around her and waited for Christmas morning.

Fields of Heather woke to a most wonderful sensation. Kai13 leaned back grinning, kissing her awake was a lot more fun them fighting to get the blankets away from her. Heather was not a morning person. "I wondered how long it would take to wake you?" he said smiling.

"Awake? Who said I was awake?" said Heather as she pulled him back down from another kiss.

"Are you ready?"  "As ready as I'll ever be."

"Good," grinned Kai13 as he handed her the first present. A half hour, and lots of shredded paper, they sat looking at two small piles of gifts. Heather had gotten Kai13 several new shirts and two books he had asked for. She had also gotten him, what at first looked like a sawed-off shotgun, until she explained it was specially made to fire Snare cartridges. Kai13 grinned, wondering if he might find a few of his brothers to practice on.
Kai13 had gotten Heather a box of her favorite chocolates, which where now half gone, a new book, and a nightgown that had left Heather blushing. He had chuckled when he saw the look on Heather's face when she held it up and realized she could see threw it almost completely.

Leaning against Kai13, Heather took a sip from her mug and nibbled on her chocolates. "I almost forgot," said Kai13.

"What?" asked Heather as she watched Kai13 reach into the tree. He grinned as he pulled a small silver box from the branches, "I almost forget your last present."

Heather slowly peeled the sliver paper away. Inside was a small box, about 4 inches square. She lifted the lid, pushed back the tissue paper. Heather was stuck speechless. She carefully lifted out a small heart shaped box made of chocolate. Written in white frosting across the top was "For The One I Love"

"Open it," whispered Kai13 against her cheek. Her hand trembling slightly, Heather lifted the top of the chocolate box. It was an ornament, a small Christmas ball. Heather picked it up. On it's front was two children, a little boy and girl wrapped up in winter clothes. The boy was holding out a single red rose for the little girl. Beneath them was a small banner reading, "Our First Christmas" "Turn it around," whispered Kai13. Heather turned it around, there was writing on the back. It read...

"To My Eternal Rose,
All my love, now and forever, Kai13"

Silent tears spilled down Heather's face. She couldn't think of a thing to say. Kai13 took the ornament from her and placed it on the tree. It swung back and forth, the firelight dancing across it. Kai13 looked back at Heather and wiped a tear from her cheek.

"Out first Christmas together." He said softly.

"The first of many," whispered Heather.

Kai13 pulled Heather closer and gave her the slowest, sweetest kiss they had ever shared.
