"If your not to busy." said Clover.

"My dear, I'm never to busy for a new pationt." Aloe patted the puppy. If he was bent over any more he wouldn't be able to see over her back. "Now go on with ya, go what you young people do."

Some time later, Clover and Kai made their way out of the town. Clover had found a place for Stan and Xev to stay. Kai had volentered to help her find Poison Oak. Xev and Stan has been reluctent to stay behind untill Clover made arangements for them. Clover got her rather busty friend, Grove of Watermelons, to "entertain" Stan. Xev was very happy once she meet Bunch of Grapefruit and Stand of Bananas.

Clover was desturbed to learn that Fields of Marygolds had gone missing early that day. She worryed that Poison Oak may have found her. Kai and Clover talked as they walked along the river. "We should begin searching back at the moth."said Kai," We may find her trail there."

"I think your..." Clover gasped as a foul stench tryed to choke her. Her eyes watered, she bent over coughing. "What's wrong?" asked Kai as he stedded thev shaky Clover.

"She..<gasp>..here....<cough>..Poison...Oak.. <gasp> ..is.. here!!!" Clover sputered as she tryed to catch her breath. As if on Q, Poison Oak stagered out of the trees, snarling ans hissing at Clover and Kai. Out of the trees behind Poison Oak came the missing Marygold, the oily discharge and white spots allready evedent.

"This is not good." said Clover.

part 8

Clover felt her heart leap to her throught. Two of them, she thought, two to stop. Poison Oak and Marygold fanned out, hissing and growling at Clover and Kai. Marygold, infected only a few hours, was already wilting, her vines starting to droop. Poison Oak had lost all but two of her vines and these were next to useless, dragging on the ground. "Kai." whispered Clover, her eyes never leaving Poison Oak.

"Yes." said Kai, likewise watching Marygold.

"Oak's mine, take Gold, but be careful, she won't die easyly." Clover said, her vines qwivering with excitment, or was it fear.

"Death is never easy." said Kai. They moved apart, towards their resective oponents. Marygold crouched, hissing low, those vines still useful moved forward. Kai aimed his brace...  It screched throught the air. Only Marygold's speed saved her head, but the brace still sliced her neck open. She launched herself at Kai as if she had not been hit. Kai fell to the ground under Gold's wieght. Her vines slashed and stabed at Kai. No sooner had the damage been done then Kai began to heal. Kai grabed Gold by the throat, crushing her windpipe. Gold screched but didn't stop. Gold continued to slice away at Kai. Kai pressed his brace to her neck...

THWACK ....Marygolds head rolled into the river but her body kept going. Her vines still stabed but without her head some began to miss. Kai sliced off the more acurate of these and watched them fall, withering to the ground. Kai pushed Marygold's still flaling body away and got up. He prceded to slice her in to neat pieces.

THWACK, THWACK....both arms

THWACK THWACK.....both legs

THWACK THWACK THWACKTHWACKTHWACK...the remaining vines.

Kai watched as each piece slowly stopped moving, at last giveing in. He turned in time to see Poison Oak sinking her teeth into Clover's arm. Clover screamed.....

part 9

"Death is never easy." said Kai. They moved apart, towards their respective oponents. Poison Oak snarled as she charged Clover. Clover launched a glob of acid at Oak, burning into her stomache. Oak screched, her charge halted as she bent over in pain. Clover sent another glob skiding down Oak's back. Clover followed with a kick to Oak's face which sent her to the ground.

Oak jumped back to her feet as if nothing had happened. She charged Clover again, this time ducking under the 3rd glob. She slamed into Clover, almost knocking her down. Clover began stabing with her vines as she wrestled with Oak.

Nothing seemed to slow Oak down, the remaining vines were cut away, two more globs of acid were launched, point-blank, into Oak's chest. Oak tryed to free her arms from Clover's crasp, snarling in frustration. Clover could feel her arms tireing, as sweat ran down her face. Finally Oak began to slow, the loss of so much sap taking effect. Only now as oak weakened, did Clover unsheth her stinger.

The vine snaped forward, driving the thin neddle into Oak's side. She could feel the small muscles pumping the toxin into Oak. In a last deserate act, Oak struck, sinking her teeth into Clover's forearm. Clover screemed as she pushed Oak away. Clover cradled her arm to her chest as she stumbled back, landing agenst something hard.

Kai grabed Clover, holding her up as her legs gave out. Oak's screching drew their attention. Oak lay on the ground, writhing in agony as the toxin worked it's way through her body, desolving everything in it's path. Her screaching reached a fevered pitch as the toxin made it's way up her spinal cord. All at once her screaching stopped, her face grew blank, and her body went limp.

Kai lowered the shaking Clover to the ground, kneling next to her. "Kai, you...you have to help me." studered Clover. "You..you have to help me up."

"You need to rest, you have exerted yourself." stated Kai, holding Clover from getting up.

"No Kai, you...you don't understand." Clover looked up at Kai then held out her arm. Where Oak's teeth had sunk in tiny white spots blossumed.

"I'm infected with the Blight."
