She stood waiting. The sun had just set, the sky lite in blazing reds and pinks. The wind blew sleady agenst her, pressing her thin robe to her body. Her long hair danced around her face. The beach below had become a thin pale ribbon agenst the dark sea. The crashing waves were like a steady heartbeat, pounding in her ears. In the distance, she could just hear the sounds of the Boardwalk. Music blared and people laughed as they walked it's lenth, munching on salt water taffy and funnel cakes.

Sighing, she leaning agenst the railing of her balcony. "Can it be it's only been a year?" she thought to herself, "It feels like a lifetime ago." She thought back to last summer. She had spent the week here, in this very room. She and her friends had run all over town, hiting all the night spots, eating in the best resterants, stuffing themselves with boardwalk fries, steamed crabs, and soft ice cream. But that was nothing unusal, they did that ever summer. What made that trip so memorable was the last night there, the night she had stayed behind. The night he came.

She wondered why she was here. Normaly she didn't come down to the ocean this early in the season. But something had compeled her to take the weekend off and come down here. Something had made her get this room again, something she couldn't explain.

"You're loseing it girl." she said softly to herself. Standing straight she turned to go inside. Then it hit her. It was the feeling, the one she had felt a year ago, like strands of energy running threw her body. Her heart lept, it felt like a fire had been lite in her veins. Gasping, she grabed the railing behind her. Her knees went weak and she felt lightheaded. She knew this feeling. She dared not breath. Could it be true? Was this really happening. Please don't let it be a dream. But it was real, she knew it, and this feeling could only mean one thing.

He's here.

She ran back inside and grabed her beach towel. Hurrying out the door, she rushed down the hallway. He was there, waiting for her, she knew it. The elevador never moved so slow.

The salty sea air hit her as she walked outside. She walked down the sandy path, trying to calm her raceing heart. Rounding the bend, she looked out of the beach. The sand rippled in the pale light, disapearing beneth the pounding waves only to reapear. She stood there, waiting.

She didn't wait long.

She jumped. His hands were like ice agenst her hot skin. They held her firmly at the waist, pulling her back agenst his chest. "You came." His strong voice sent shivers threw her body.

"Yes." she said, bearly above a whisper. She could feel him lean closer.

"You remembered." His lips brushed her ear, sending a delisous jolt threw her, making her knees just a bit weaker.

"How could I forget?" She was finding it hard to breath. He removed one hand from her waist only to take her hand. She turned slightly and looked into the most pirceing hazel eyes. They seemed to look threw her, into her very soul.

"Come." He said softly. He lead her father onto the beach. She willingly followed.

With shaking knees, she sat down on the beach towel. The moon had apeared, adding it's soft light. She griped the edge of the towel, trying to stead her hands. He sat next to her, his black clothing standing out against the bone white sand. The wind whiped at his hair, a long lock of raven hair drifting across his face, obscuring it. He was so close, his shoulder nearly brushing hers. She could feel the cold eminating from him in waves, chilling her feverish flesh.

"Close your eyes." She did it with out question. She griped the towel a little tighter as she heard him move beside her. "Open." came his velvet smooth voice. Trembling, she opened her mouth.

She felt something brush against her lips, smooth and cool. She held her breath as he sliped the tiny bit of fudge into her mouth, trailing his fingers across her lower lip. She moaned softly as the rich treat melted on her tongue. She rolled it about, savoring every bit of it. All to soon it was gone, leaving a fierce hunger behind.

She opened eyes. He was so close. She found herself stairing at his lips, wondering if they were just as delicious. Gasping, she looked into those soulful eyes, trembling like a leaf and said softly, "More.... please."

The last one. He held the last piece of fudge between his fingers. She bite her lip, wishing it wasn't so, wishing it could go on forever. The hour seemed to have gone by so fast, as had the fudge.

He leaned closer, raiseing the morsel towards her lips. Reaching up, she stopped him. She smiled at his quizical look as she took the fudge from his fingers. She leaned forward, holding the it up to his lips. Hesitently, he opened his mouth, taking the offering. Sliping one hand around his neck, she pulled him to her. A jolt ran threw her as their lips meet, hot and cold, they pressed together. They tongues twined together, the melting morsel caught between them.

All to soon it was gone. As the last traces of it faded away, she reluctently pulled back. She didn't want to, she wanted to taste those cool, soft lips again. "I must go." he's voice was soft, but firm. She blinked back tears, she knew she couldn't keep him, he wasn't hers. She nodded, her throat had gone dry. Standing, she picked up the towel, shaking the sand out.

"Will.... will I ever see you again?" Her voice was barely heard above the waves. He reached out, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

"Yes." With that he turned, disapearing into the shadows.

She didn't know how long she stood there, but the cold wind finaly drove her back. Once back in her room, she stood there, behind the closed doors to the balcony and smiled, "Maybe...... next summer."
