Nature in Canberra
Whether you're a bushwalker, a star-gazer, a birdwatcher or a botanist, there are plenty of places for exploring nature in and around Canberra.

Canberra Nature Park is made up of more than 27 separate areas of bush.  If you live in Canberra, chances are there's a Nature Park within walking distance from your home.  Just 40 minutes from Canberra, you'll find plenty of unspoiled bush at Namadgi National Park and wildlife at close range at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve.  Don't forget to visit the Murrumbidgee River Corridor and Googong ForeshoresAll of these areas are managed by Environment ACT.

The
Australian National Botanic Gardens (ANBG) are located near the centre of Canberra, on the lower slopes of Black Mountain.  The Gardens display plants from all over Australia and are host to many species of birds and other wildlife.

If you want to find out more about the natural world beyond our planet, why not visit Mount Stromlo Observatory Visitor's Centre or the Tidbinbilla Deep Space Tracking Station.
