IRISH RED AND WHITE SETTERS

The Irish Red and White Setter is the original Irish Setter from whence came the red setter, commonly  known as the Irish Setter. At one time it was not unknown for both to appear in the same litter, and working red Irish setters still occasionally produce a red and white puppy.

The Irish Red and White Setter  had nearly vanished by the twentieth century, but the breed was saved from extinction in the seventies by a revival in Ireland and the UK. In Ireland it was a hardy working  dog, used to find and point birds.

They have marvellous temperaments and readily adapt to most surroundings. While real "go-getters" on the field, they are usually very calm and affectionate in the home. They combine both beauty and brains making them wonderful companions.

Bramble (CH. CANISCAELI TANDRAGEE BRAMBLE CD FDJ) was bred by Gail and Leslie Harrison, who imported their first Irish Red and White Setters into Canada from the UK in the early nineties. Their dogs are from Shannonlee and Hawklawn lines and are dual purpose show and hunting dogs. The breed was recognised by the Canadian Kennel Club in 1999.
