Sheila
Sheila is a senior blue merle female. Sheila loves people more than anything in the world, and has not met a person she doesn't like. With other dogs, Sheila would like to be alpha, but knows that I will not allow her to pick on them. Although she used to treat new dogs rather gruffly, her attitude has improved dramatically with persistent training. The only dog who has never been subject to her authority is Raven; she thinks he's wonderful and never tries to throw her weight around with him.

Sheila does not like to play fetch. However, if another dog is playing the game, she will gladly steal the toy from them and bring it back to us as though she was the one who retrieved it. Occassionally, she decides that such theft requires too much effort and will simply sit in front of  us after the other dog has fetched the toy thinking that she can sneak inr praise and petting for work she didn't even attempt.

As an Aussie, this girl does have a good herding instinct, but she saves it for dogs she doesn't know and animals that are smaller than she. At one point in time, Sheila visited nursing homes. Nowadays, she has slowed down considerably and stays inside for the most part, content to rest on a rug in the foyer. She suffers from severe allergies, so often has to stay home from outings when they are acting up.

Sheila has come a long way to be the happy, healthy dog that she is. When we first got her (our first Aussie!), Sheila was infected with heartworms. She endured treatment like a champ, though, and has adjusted nicely to her life as a pampered inside pet. No more chains for this girl!

Although Sheila is beautiful, she is not a show dog and has been spayed.
