Hello, I'm JessiE, and here it is, If Only, my officially first fan
fiction. Have fun reading!
This story has 5 sagas, this is Saga 2, and each saga starts with chapter
1 back again... and a fair WARNING! This story is long ... very long (to
me)!
This chapter has a new character, Jesse, spelt just a bit like my nickname
(JessiE) but with no 'i'! So do not get confused. 'Jesse' is a guy anyway.
Just a reminder that Saga 2 is very long, I think the longest saga among
five. But have fun reading!

If Only,
Saga 2,
Chapter 2,
By JessiE
So, why have I come here anyway? Brian's
not here, he can't come today. Moreover, we both shouldn't visit Jennifer
anymore till she gets better. Why am I even here?
Amanda walked slowly towards Jennifer's
ward. Even though she was not supposed to go there, she still felt like she
wanted to visit Jennifer.
I'm crazy. I should go back home right
now. Yes, I should. What can I do here anyway? The thing is, Jennifer will
get upset if she sees me.
She turned around. That was when she
saw someone she knew.
"Hey, hey Jesse!" she yelled to a guy
standing not far from her. She moved toward him while he took a look at her.
Jesse was actually Amanda's old friend since high school. He, Amanda, Josh
and Jennifer went to the same high school once.
"Amanda?"
"Who else could I be?" She smiled. "It's
been a while since I last saw you."
"Me too. When was that... three months
ago?"
"Yup, but it's not that long anyway."
"But it's still nice to see you again."
"Same here. So, what are you doing here?"
"Well, I did some check on my back because
it hurt a lot these days. The doctor gave me some medicine. Nothing serious
though. How 'bout you?"
"Oh well, there's a long story that
led to why I came here but to cut it short, I came to visit Jennifer who
was involved in an accident several days ago."
Jesse seemed to be thunderstruck. However,
he did not say
anything straight.
"...you... remember Jennifer right?"
"Yes, of course I do! But..."
"You can barely believe she had an accident,
don't you? Me too. But she truly had an accident, and she's seriously injured."
"Jennifer? Um... just tell me where
she is. I wanna visit her."
"If so, she's just right there." Amanda
pointed her finger to Jennifer's ward, which was ward number 1022.
"Thanks. You wanna come along?"
"Um, oh, no. I... I've visited her already,"
she lied.
"Okay, I guess I'll see you later."
He went off and got into the ward.
I guess he might be able to make things
better for Jennifer...
Jesse opened the door slowly. Then he
saw a person who was being bandaged all over the body, including the head.
The person did not even notice him opening the door.
That's serious! Am I in the right place?
Is that Jennifer?
"Excuse me..."
The person turned her head a bit and
took a look at him. "Jesse? Is that you?"
Yeah, that's her all right. I know her
voice. I still can recognize it, even after some time now.
"You got that right, Jennifer. Jesse
here!" he sat on the chair near the bed. "I came here to see you."
"But how did you know I'm here?"
"Oh, Amanda told me."
Hearing Amanda's name somehow did not
make Jennifer feel good.
Right, Amanda. How annoying that name
is—
"I can't believe I'm here, though,"
said Jesse. "After a long time, I can't believe I'm seeing you again."
"Oh, well, it's surely great to see
you again after a long time." She took the thing about Amanda out of her
mind.
"Me too. It's been months. I have seen
Amanda before, like three months ago, but you... I haven't met you for ages."
That dumb name again—
"But I'm happy to be here, and still
looking forward to keep seeing you again next time till you get better."
"Thanks!" Again, after Jesse spoke up
again, she forgot about Amanda. "But anyway, I myself still can't believe
I'm lying here in a hospital."
"You look seriously injured anyway."
"Yeah, believe me. It hurts more than
I can bare. I can hardly move an inch."
"So, you were involved in an accident.
How did it occur?"
What did I just say? I just asked her
something that might make her feel bad, Jesse thought.
"The accident...—"
"Oh, never mind about it anyway. I shouldn't
have asked you about it. In fact, I should just let you rest. Look at yourself."
"I can't even move my head, so I'm unable
to see or look at my whole body."
He laughed. "Okay, sorry. But soon,
whenever you feel like telling me anything at all, maybe about the accident
or something, you're always welcome to say it. I'm a good listener, you know."
"I know, you've always been a nice guy
since high school. I've always admired you, Jesse."
She's always admired me! Jesse felt
like hugging her. And I've always liked you, Jennifer. Since high school,
till now, although through it all I still once had a girlfriend. And you?
You've always liked Josh.
Speaking about Josh, what happened to
him?
He felt like asking Jennifer about Josh
and a lot of other things. However, with her condition, he did not want to
do it yet.
I'd rather wait till she gets better.
But maybe I'm too eager to know. Oh well, there's always Amanda.
And I feel happy being here with Jennifer.
I haven't felt this happy for some time now. I hope she and I will always
meet each other frequently. But most importantly, I hope she'll recover soon.
Very soon.
