| One can only watch with a degree of sadness, how affairs have been mismanaged in Iraq. There were no weapons of mass destruction, and we had no business going there. Dislike of a country's leader doesn't give us the right to remove him, and put new leaders in power. That's what all the fighting has been about. Now we DO have weapons of mass destruction in this country. Suppose someone came in, did away with our military and political leaders, and sought to imprison some of our religious leaders who speak out? Would we too resort to whatever weapons we could muster to get them out? Would we fight to get the invaders out of our country and off our land? Only this time, they would find weapons of mass destruction. What's the cause of this country's problems? The Controlling Republican Party. The Republican party is saddled with an extreme Right element, and as long as it embraces that faction, it will drag this country into ruin. Moderate Republicans need to see that compromise with the Democrats is part of the political process. They need to see that fair play is part of the American way, or at least it was. They need to work with the Democrats, not exclude them from the political process. Some call that extreme Right element the Religious Right. But after years of watching them and the fruit they bare, one has to wonder why they aren't called the Irreligious Right. There's nothing religious about them. So out of a desire to speak out, , I bring you The Political Review. I'll look at the news, and try to expose the fiction that has been weaved between the facts - and maybe reality will become a little clearer... *************************************************************************************** Our President claims that we have the right to disregard the Geneva Convention Rules of conduct for prisoners. Recent news showed photos of how we treated prisioners, and the outrage from it gave certain groups the excuse they needed to cut off the heads of people they'd captured. While the President expressed outrage, he neglected to take any responcibility for the events. When a country disregards treaties, and bends the rules of conduct to suit their own desires, then they can only expect other peoples to feel that they too can act in any manner they feel fit. The rules of conduct are there to protect all peoples. When you throw away the rules, you can only expect others might follow suit. |
