world war
this track has an odd little story, it was recorded early on in the cure history...the band's debut was "three imaginary boys," but this wasn't released in the united states. after some time, a compilation of early singles, most of "three imaginary boys" and a few other tracks were released in the united states as the cure's united states debut album called "boys don't cry." "world war" appeared on the "boys don't cry" album. however, when elektra reissued the cure catalog on compact disc in the late 80's, robert apparently wanted "world war" removed because he hates it. in addition, this song is often considered to be an early version of "shake dog shake" due to some similarities in the guitar parts.
