the cure plays dallas (a packed texas stadium) during the massive wish tour of 1992...

and it's a shame this recording isn't better =\  this was my first cure concert, and of course, not a great recording...it's just a really questionable recording of a great performance--it's got a lot of tape noise/white noise in it, and it kinda sounds like a really good AM radio broadcast...not FM mind you, AM. but listenable still--after the first listen, and then maybe part of a second--this one is listenable and not awful. just wish it was better, so this one is mostly for hard-core collectors and fans that were in the stadium that night.

and what a brilliant night! the band kicks things off w/"open" and the very first lyric...."i really don't know what i'm doing here, i really think i should have gone to bed tonight..." that was an excellent moment!! "high" and "pictures of you" follow, both are good, but the tape/venue has a sort of slight delay w/the drums...sometimes more noticeable than others, but it's slight.

"lullaby" follows and is quite sharp--it reminds me of the very cool laser/light effect, they had a spider moving across the upper decks of the arena/audience...so you could see a spider running across the upper deck of texas stadium. "just like heaven" and "fascination street" follow, and the crowd (as it is all the way thru) is amazingly responsive and loud--not really during the songs, but inbetween.

"trust" is nice, but then the tapes must change or something because
"the walk" and "let's go to bed" are missing from this recording...
but robert then says (after the missing songs/edit) "this is the wrong day, but right sentence...this is called 'friday i'm in love.'" and of course it's huge--this performance is actually quite spirited as well =) unlike some of the performances which seem kinda forced...this one is tight and sounds very up. and that's followed by a very tight "inbetween days" as well...robert plays around just a little bit w/the chords of "hello i love you" right before boris kicked off the drums.

"from the edge of the deep green sea" is a great change of mood, and very good. from there it's a noisy guitar-driven take of "never enough," and then a ripping version of "cut," which is one of those songs that has kinda gotten lost after the wish tour...only coming up for some of the dates in 1997 and 1998, it woulda been cool and aggressive on the dream tour. the set proper comes to a close w/"end" tumbling and falling w/guitars and drums everywhere...

the encores start w/a gentle take of "lovesong," and then jumps into fun and very up versions of both "close to me" and "why can't i be you?" "three imaginary boys" casts a nice grey spell over the masses, and then "primary" and "boys don't cry" gets things up and going again...

hearing "in your house" was quite a nice bonus--and it's good, w/the ending chords echoing in the night and then also leading right into "a strange day." "a strange day" is very good even here...it's got just the slightest of cuts in the middle--but even on this recording, it's still quite good!!

the band ends the night w/a unique and very cool version of "a forest," it actually features some additional lyrics from "faith." they go into a break-down after the normal ending of the song...just some chords, and different drum beats--robert starts to add some different lyrics w/out using any real melodies (i might try to figure out these words sometime)....and then sings the opening lines of "faith" w/just some noisy guitars--very cool stuff--and then back into "a forest." it's really good, and as the final notes still ring around the stadium robert says "thank you....goodnight, you've been the loudest so far" or something very close to that...

in the end, this is a very middle ground set--given how rare it is, it's not bad for trading--but it's actually barely
or below average based on sound alone, and for curemad collectors only...
