| No matter what song Charlotte sang that night, it reminded her of him. Wether it was about heartache or being in love, an image of him popped into her head. She was now on tthe last song of the last concert of her tour. Then she would have two whole months to relax... or so they said. In this business, two months really meant two weeks, before they start calling you back into the studio. Charlotte was glad this last concert was in her home town. That way she could go straight to her own house and sleep in her own bed that night. These last four months of her first headlining world tour were hell. He was the one who had gotten her this far, but what did he do about it? He went and broke her heart a week before the tour started. Of course he had his reasons. Relationships like ours were made to fail. People in this business dont have time to be in love. The rest of the night, Charlotte was in a daze, not even relizing it till she was home. She sat in her reclining chair in front of the fire place, sipping her hot chocolate. Callie, her calico cat jumped up in her lap and curled into a ball. Charlotte looked over at the phone next to her. She hadnt spoken to him since it happened. She couldnt bring herself to call him. Not even to just let him know how the tour went. But then again, he never called either. He had been her first love, her only love. Charlotte wasnt even sure if shes be able to love anyone as much as she loved him again. He was her everything. Charlotte sighed, looking down at her cat who was purring. Should I, or shouldnt I call him? Charlotte asked the cat. Callie meowed her response. Charlotte sat there for a moment thinking. I agree with you, she finall said, picking up the phone and dialing the numbers shell never forget. She prayed he wont be mad at her for calling this late at night. Hello? a sleepy voice answered, after letting the phone ring for awhile. Stun after hearing his voice, which she hadnt heard for months now, Charlotte couldnt speak. Hello? he repeated, clearily annoyed. Chris, is that you? This isnt funny! Charlotte thought of hanging up, but couldnt. She finally spoke. Justin? His side was silent. Charlie? Justin whispered. Charlotte smiled. Its me. Wow, I havent heard from you in awhile. Uh, how are you doing? Fine. My tour just ended tonight, Charlotte informed him. Justin smiled. I know. I went to your concert when it was in Memphis... It was really good. Youve come along way. Why didnt you let me know? Charlotte crinkled her forehead. Why didnt you come and see me? I thought of it... I wasnt sure if you wanted to see me or not. Charlotte was silent. Why did you call? Justin asked. Charlotte chewed on her bottom lip. I just needed to hear your voice. I havent been able to get you out of my mind lately. Now it was Justins turn to be silent. Do you ever wonder what it wouldve been like if we never broke up? Charlotte asked softly. Everyday Charlie, everyday. |
