Resentment

It was all her fault.
She was the one who said she couldnt stay with him anymore. That with his type of life, they
couldnt raise a family in. Not with the screaming fans everywhere, or him home for only
a week or two at a time.
So he said he would quit it.
But she didnt want him to come to resent her in the future, for being the one who held
him back. He promised her hed nver resent her, that if he let her go, it would be *N
SYNC he would resent.
But that all changed.
Now after being married to her for 8 years, he wasnt sure if this was resentment he was
feeling towards her or not.
He watched her in the rocking chair, rocking their two year old son, the youngest of their
three children. Every night, the baby of the family always insisted on his rocky before
going to sleep.
Annie looked up from the toddler to where Justin layed length way of the couch starring
at her. She could tell something was bothering him. She made sure to keep the children
out of his way that night and put them to bed early.
The toddler was the last of them.
Once the small child was a sleep, Annie slowly stood up and started carring him upstairs
to his room.
Justin watched her every movement. Once she reached the stairs he got up and followed
her.
Before entering her sons room, toddler opened his eyes.
Rocky, he mumbled, before closing his eyes again.
Annie carried him over to his crib and gently placed him in it, covering him with his
favorite blanket. She then brought the side of the crib up, so he couldnt climb over in the
middle of the night.
Justin watched the whole time from the doorway, still debating what he felt.
He caught Annie by the waist as she went by, exiting the rom. He wrapped his arms
around her, resting his chin on top of her head, closing his eyes.
Justin, whats wrong? Annie asked, looking up at him.
Justins eyes immediatly opened when she moved her head.
Nothing, baby, Justin answered.
Annie frowned, knowing he wasnt being honest with her. She led him to their bedroom,
lieing down on the bed. Justin immediatly went and layed down beside her, wrapping his
arms around her. He rested his head on her chest, where he could hear the rythemetic
sound of her heart beat.
He promised her hed nver resent her, that if he let her go, it would be *N SYNC he
would resent.
Justin knew then and there he had to keep that vow to her. Hell never resent her. He
would always wonder what wouldve happened if he had never left *N SYNC,
wondering what they could have become.
But hed never resent Annie.
Never regret the last 8 years with her.
Never regret the three beautiful children he had with her.
As he clung to her closly, he made a silent prayer for this to never end.
