| Chapter 21- No One to Blame Justin paced nervously in the hospitals waiting room muttering to himself over and over, Its all my fault. Its all my fault. Finally Wade had enough of it. He stood up and grabbed Justins shoulders. Its not your fault! Wade said sternly. Justin looked up at him helplessly. But I knew she was taking the damn pills all along, but I didnt tell anyone. Its all my fault. I could have prevented this from happening. Justin, youre not the one who forced her to take them. No, she took them willingly. And if I know anything about my sister is that shes stuburn and doesnt listen to anyone. She promised that she would stop using them once she got into the ABC, Justin whispered, collapsing into an uncomfortable chair. He rested his head in his hands, with his elbows on his knees. Wade? Justin looked up to see an older man and woman come in. He assumed that they were their parents. They both embraced Wade in a hug. What happened? the woman asked, tears running down her face. Wade sighed, running a hand over his hair. Mercedes has been taking energy pills to make her dance better. Oh my, the mother said, bringing a hand to her mouth in shock. I knew we should have never let her take ballet so seriously, the father said angerily. With how many people who dance ballet are anerixit. Dad she wasnt starving herself, Wade rolled his eyes. Yeah, but that wouldve been the next step she would have been doing! Mom, Dad, this is Justin, a good friend of mine, Wade said, trying to change the subject. Justin stood up and shook both of their hand politely, as a doctor came in. Mr. and Mrs. Robson? Its Ms. Steele, Ms. Steele said, using her maiden name since they were getting a divorce. The doctor went through a full report of hom Mercedes was doing. He said that shell be alright, but wouldnt be able to dance for awhile. Can we see her yet? Ms. Steele asked. Actually, shes asking for Justin right now. All eyes turned to him. Justin slowly followed the Doctor to Mercedes room. Justin stood in the doorway, a little unsure of himself. You can come in, Mercedes smiled weakly. Justin went and took a seat in the chair by her bed. He took a hold of her hand, closing his eyes as he kissed it. Im so sorry, Justin whicpered hoarsly. For what? Mercedes forhead wrinkled with confusion. I knew that you were taking the drugs, but I didnt tell anyone. Justin, its not your fault. You were just keeping your promise to me. this is all my fault. You tried to warn me, but I didnt want to listen. I thought they wont hurt me. Justin looked up at her. Are you going to kiss me now? Mercedes whispered. Justin didnt answer her, instead he leaned up towards her slowly till their lips touched. |
