Changes

He walked down the crowded New York City sidewalk. It was spring time in the city, the
snow had finally melt away. He had never felt the coldness of the snow though, just the
lonliness.

But now as the spring sun beat down on his face, that emptiness was still there. He kept
walking, not paying attention to where he was going. He was trying to ignore the
hollowness inside of him, hoping that it would eventually go away. Yet it wouldnt....

He came to a stop realizing where he was.

It was her apartment complex.

They had both been running from the pain, but what he wouldnt give to see her face
again. It had been so long. They could sit in her living room catching up on each others
lives. They would talk about anything and everything. Shell pretend that she forgave
him, and hell pretend that nothing ever happened between them. That he never let her
down. Never made her cry. He had paid the price, he still was.

They would both act happy.

But he would not go up there, he couldnt. A lot had changed since back then.

He didnt know her anymore. Everything had changed, even her name.

He moved along, trying to get as far away from the apartment as fast as he could. Before
turning the corner, he took one last look back. There she was, standing in front of her
apartment building, starring right at him.

He saw her face.

She hadnt changed....
