| Chapter 10 - Painful Beauty | |||||
| They say real love is so powerful that it can cause sympathy pains. The one in love will feel what the other one does. When their loved one is sad, they'll be miserable too. When one is happy, the other one will only feel happiness as well. But how long does it take love to show up? Could it happen in one night? In one kiss? Could those sympathy pains start before you know how they take their coffee? What their favorite foods, colors, books, and movies are? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not able to take it anymore, he pulls himself from the window, turning his back to her only to head down the side walk; back the way he had came. Though logic keeps drumming in his head, telling him everything he should do, should feel, should think... it didn't matter now. How could he have been so stubborn? How could she have been so stubborn? Marching forward, he pushes his way to the door. He quickly grabs the silver handle, yanking it open as hard as he can which makes the glass door rattle before he storms in. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- She frowns as she watches him walk from the window, out of site. That was it, a goodbye she supposes as she lowers her head, breaking back into more powerful tears as her body shakes once more. She could feel it tearing into her, ripping her apart into small pieces. "I'm sorry..." she whispers under her breath, it barely being audible as she continues to cry harder and harder. Why had she ever met him? Why did he have to be John Mayer? Why couldn't he be some Average Joe where if something were to happen it wouldn't be career interfering. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walking in, he makes his way silently towards the back hall leading to her office. Though, the only sound around him was one of ringing phones and a blowing air-conditioned, to him, it was louder then an airport. His heart beat was like the drum set in his band; his breaths were like sonic booms and even his sweat made sounds as it trickles down from her cap. With a nervous hand, he reaches out to her door, opening it only to squint a second in fear as he doesnt wait for an answer and walks inside the room, standing their in front of her. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hearing the door, Dani slowly lifts her heavy head only to turn it over her shoulder to find in the site, her breath becoming stuck in her throat. Not Amber, Not Eric. Not anyone remotely making sense to be their. No, it was a site she had fantasized about and has been dreading for months. She turns slowly so facing him, her arms hugging around her tighter as she bites her lower lip to stop a harder sob. Subconsciously she wills herself not to cry so her honey brown eyes can take him in. Her heart beat, one from being shallow in crying now quickens as if she is running as she watches him stand by the door, facing her as he slowly closes it behind him. No words are said as the two stand across from each other, just staring as a tense thick air takes up the room, making everything more hard to deal with. Its amazing how something as simple as hello could seem like a deadly move but as they continue standing their, thats exactly what it is. Reaching up, John slowly grabs a hold of the rim of his glasses only to slowly pull them down from his face. His nervous fingers fold them before tucking them into his pocket. Dani opens her mouth to speak but finds herself practically chocking back tears. Realizing she cant, she closes her mouth while tilting her down in shame. His hand moves up once more, carefully pulling his cap from his head, showing off his matted down curls as a slight blush comes to his cheeks. She tries again as she lifts her head, only to freeze when she sees his hair. For no real reason, she lunges finally forward without warning. Her body quickly moves close to him as her arms unravel from her to wrap around him and tears once again sprout from her eyes. Johns arms naturally wrap back around her as he does his best not to step back from the impact. Feeling his eyes burn her closes them and lowers his head. His nose slowly boroughs its way into her hair as his arms stroke her back, keeping her as tight as he can to himself. Feeling if he lets go shell slip away and this shall all end up one big dream. |
