My name is Raquel and lets just say I kind of started the trouble without meaning it. I was a singer long ago, I would say a good three years its been now and I admit, I rocked. With my best friends Serena and Shaunna, we started a band with then boyfriend Adam, high school rock out friend Paul and another townie friend Ryan. We called ourselves Original Skin and by the time us girls were in our senior year of high school, Original Skin was the hottest ticket in town. So hot, with idiot Ryan, we moved ourselves from La Mesa Cali to San Francisco. The move wasn't perfect, especially with us living together but it worked for the time being.
We had a regular gig in San Fran which soon took off way more then anyone expected. Every Saturday Night at "Club Rain" we rocked out in front of a sold out crowd. We were shut down so often by the fire station for being filled but even then, we had no reason to take our careers past that. You see in reality, music was a part time job for all of us.. or well most of us.
Ryan wanted to be a sales man, Paul wanted to sleep more, Serena wanted to be a teacher, Shaunna wanted to be a web designer and I, I just wanted to live. Adam was always however a guitar player and an amazing singer/song writer.
So, after a year as a hit in San Fran we decided to end it only if we couldn't make it elsewhere. Meaning, road trip tour.
Now this is when Beer Buzz comes in. Back in LA, they were the hot band and had already turned down several contracts. They liked their bar scene and didn't want to be the next "Dave Matthews Band" though their sound was more R&B meets Rock meets Contemporary. But whatever you want to label it, they rocked. They still do by the way.
Their vocalist, Justin, happened to be unfortunately enough to be close friends with Adam. Now for Beer Buzz, they had been doing open bar tours for awhile and were always looking for a good opening act. Lucky us right? So after several auditions, Justin talked his band members, Shane (drums), Jake (bass), John (guitar), and Gosling (manager) into letting us help them out.
Only one little problem we over looked. Since the combined average of ages were 21... it was a bad bad dramatic idea. Though, in time it worked out just maybe not for everyone's best.
We hired a crew of our families to help us out. I had my sister work in Costumes and Merchandise since she at the time was an out of work cosmetologist. I mean what better thing to put on a resume then that right? Well along with her came about girlfriends which I felt should have been left home. The first was Kelly Warren and lets just say everyone but Adam who was dating her felt she should have been left home along with Diane, Ryan's girlfriend.
Beer Buzz had some specialist of theirs come along too. Orlando and Jason. Great guys and very professional but the tour was now looking at 10 boys and 6 girls. Scary odds for the females in all cases.
