To Old Times

Abbess Teasdale handed the Doctor a cup of Redwall's famous strawberry cordial and sat down.  "To old times, Doctor," the aging mouse said, raising her glass.

"To old times," he replied.  The cordial was sweet, like the most of the memories of visits to this little hamlet.  Most of them.

"How are Tegan and Nyssa?" asked the Abbess.

The Doctor gazed out one of the windows in the Abbess' study.  Peri was outside playing Superman tag with the children of the abbey and Kerrick, now a full-grown hare.  Had that much time really passed?

"I wish I knew."
