'$281 insurance slug'

A new terror bug has been unleashed on the Territory courtesy of the 2000 Territory Budget. Insurance stamp duty has increased from 8 per cent to 10 per cent which it is claimed by the Opposition will result in the average premiums rising by $281 a year when combined with GST rises. Sales of Ratsack have soared since the announcement.

'Mother of five killed: freak boating tragedy'

'A family fishing trip to the South Alligator River turned to tragedy when a Humpty Doo mother of five drowned'. She was knocked out of a boat when she was hit by an overhanging branch and was unable to be revived when dragged back on to the boat.

'V8 race official booked for drink-driving'

'The chief marshal of the weekend's V8 Supercars has been fined for drink-driving on the morning of the race'. A mere $100 fine with a $5 victim levy was handed out. Now if it had been a local yobbo……..

'Musical chairs too violent'

A booklet launched by the British Government urges teachers to ban the game on the grounds that it encourages aggression. Apparently the competition is not fair because it is always the biggest and strongest children who win. Musical statues is better because everybody wins. Soon to be released will be booklets urging teachers to ban rugby because it encourages aggression and the biggest and strongest children win…and tug-o-war…netball…weightlifting…..
