Northern Territory News headlines - Very very slow news day

'Grand Lady blooms in Centenary's honour'

'She's bright pink, dramatic and symbolises the essence of our Territory. The Federation Lady, a new floral emblem for the Territory, was launched yesterday to celebrate the Centenary of Federation. The flower was created by horticulturists at the Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries'. All states and territories will release new floral emblems this year. How sad that an un-mutated native plant wasn't chosen. But I suppose the new flower is truly reflective of the NT Government's attitude - develop at all costs and disregard for the wonders of nature.

'New, deadly jellyfish sparks expert alert' - yesterday's headline
'Jellyfish not deadly' - today's headline

Its safe to go swimming again. The Northern Territory News today admitted it had incorrectly reported that the jellyfish found was 'new' and 'deadly'. In fact the jellyfish had not been identified as either a juvenile box jellyfish or an Irukandji. In fact, the NT expert on matters, Dr Phil Alderslade hadn't even seen the jellyfish at the time of the story going to press. He was also kind enough to point out that the Irukandji is not considered deadly.

'Health guru dies at 44'

Multi-millionaire Mark Reynolds Hughes - founder of Herbalife died of natural causes at just 44. Sales from Herbalife last year were $1 billion. Isn't it ironic.

'Top spy's laptop taken'

From London - 'A laptop computer belonging to a senior naval officer has been stolen in the third such incident since March.' Good to see that our top secrets are in the hands of geniuses.
