Northern Territory News headlines

'Ford threat to quit Supercars'

Yeh sure. 'Darwin's V8 Supercar championship erupted in controversy yesterday when Ford threatened to pull out of the championship series'. Read on and it appears like a pretend threat for next year. I wonder what odds the Northern Territory News would offer to back up the story.

'NT grog fatalities twice as high' - yesterday's news
'Beer good for heart, study finds'

'Drinking moderate amounts of beer each day could help reduce the risk of heart disease, researchers said today'. Bloody obvious, drink, drive, die in a road accident and of course your risk of heart disease is lower. Duh!

'Cops not at fault in road kill case'

Maybe Denis Burke was right after all. 'Charges against the driver of a utility which killed two people on the Cox Peninsula Rd were dismissed because of the prosection case, Darwin Coroners Court was told yesterday'. Admissions made to two officers by the driver were ruled inadmissable because the officers had not issued a caution and so on and so on and so on.

'Burke vows to fight Net gambling ban'.

Ah I hear another Statehood vote coming on. 'A High Court challenge to proposed federal online gaming licence bans was foreshadowed by Chief Minister Denis Burke last night. Mr Burke reacted furiously to news the Federal Government would introduce legislation, retrospective today, to ban more interactive gaming licences being issued, labelling the decision "totally unacceptable". I wonder if Mr Burke could advise the populace as to exactly how many Territorians would be affected by the decision given that the one licence in existence in the Territory is unaffected?
