ITS BACK AFTER A LONG BREAK

Northern Territory News headlines

'Croc lurks off city beach'

Always good to return to a big NT news day. A 3m crocodile was spotted at Mindil Beach, two horse riders and a dog passing within metres. The croc got within 5m of the main city beach but managed to elude Parks and Wildlife rangers.

'City overpass to close for repairs'

A 20 year old overpass on one of Darwin's major roads is to close on the forthcoming Queen's holiday weekend for repairs to a cracked joint. Is this another reflection of the quality standards of worksmanship in the NT?

'Roebuck held on assault'

No antelopes in this story (at least I hope not). How can we ever listen to ABC Radio's cricket coverage again. Peter Roebuck has been arrested after allegations of spanking a young South African batsman for poor performance.

Pick of the Day - Burke by name - berk by nature?
'Burke's Labor claim 'a work of fiction''.

In another attempt to lure the thinking man's vote at the next Territory election, our grate (oops my spelling aint too good) Chief Minister made a claim that a Federal Labor government would overturn NT self-government. How pathetic can one get. The response from Kim Beazley is worth bottling- 'I can only assume that this is confirmation of that old saying 'those whom the Gods would destroy, they first make mad'.

'Tourist van hits buffalo'

Two French tourists hit and killed a buffalo yesterday on the Stuart Highway near Mataranka at 1am, writing off their campervan in the process. The article did not question why they were driving at 1am on a Territory road or why they had gone to Mataranka.

Sad times for all
'All bets off on mayor'

Territorians will not be able to bet on the lord mayor elections next weekend because bookies are so busy. Surely they aren't too busy taking bets on which CLP minister will make the next monumental gaffe?
