Northern Territory News headlines

'Croc stalks flood town'
'Daly people face croc, sewage'

A giant crocodile is menacing victims of the Daly River floods. Parks and Wildlife officers have been called to 'deal with it'. Much of the Daly River community is submerged with the sports oval under about 2m of water. The town's sewerage system has now flooded raising fears about sanitation. The river has risen to 14.23m at Daly River crossing. Meanwhile, food parcels have been sent to 25 residents of Bauhinia Downs station, 120km north west of Borroloola, who have been trapped by floodwaters for 10 days.

'Steve still causing trouble as WA town mops up mess'

Water is beginning to subside at Carnarvon in Western Australia with electricity now restored to all but 100 houses. However, a fair way away, four youths have been lost near Fitzroy Crossing after attempting to walk 60 kms between two communities. The area is about 300 kilometres east of where Robert Bogucki was rescued last year.

'TV star Gumbel scum, says ex'

Gumbel's estranged wife, Jane has claimed he was a womaniser and a scrooge to his children. He even kept love letters from girlfriends in the family home. But it isn't just a one-way bitch. While Jane claims she is having difficulty putting food on the table, Bryant's lawyers have claimed she spent more than $16,000 of maintenance money on jewellery.

'Clive James leaves' tyranny of TV''

Is it no wonder that Clive James has quit his television job in Britain. He claims modern TV is not 'intellectually stimulating'. Surely not Clive? He has now signed contracts to write more fiction and non-fiction books.

'Something fishy in our waterways'

A possible new threat to the Territory. Territorians are being urged not to let tropical fish (pets) into our waterways. Scientists are fearful they could cause significant damage if let loose. And if you are in doubt as to how you can get rid of your fish, Dr Ryans of NT Fisheries advises you to freeze it. The cartoon for the story shows two fellows in a boat, the first one saying 'Ha ha! You caught a Gold-fish' to which his mate replies 'And now that you've seen it I'm afraid I can't let you live'

And something you haven't seen in the news yet

Wanderers U14 side played in a grand final against Southern Districts on Saturday and lost by a paltry five points. But what made the game just a little newsworthy was that three players from the team were sent off. And this is under 14s.
