What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia (fye-bro-my-AL-gee-ah) is a condition characterized by muscular pain and fatigue. The term "fibromyalgia" means pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons.

Fibromyalgia is a confusing and often misunderstood condition and hard to diagnose. Its symptoms are quite common and laboratory tests are generally normal, leaving doctors not knowing what to do. People with fibromyalgia are often told by their doctors that their condition is "all in their head." However, medical studies and advances have proven that fibromyalgia does indeed exist, and is not "all in your head."

One thing for sure is, nobody knows your pain better then you! The good news is though, fibromyalgia pain and fatigue can be managed, but you must be willing to take control of your treatment, and be relentless in that pursuit. Keep an open mind and be willing to try anything until you find something that works for you.
