IN THE BEGINNING
In the late 1980s, the First Southern Baptist Church of Ewa Beach (FSBC of Ewa Beach--currently known as the Ewa Beach Baptist Church), began a Filipino-language Sunday School. Being taught by Pastor Rudy Gomintong, the class only consisted of a few Filipino-speaking students.
A MISSION WAS BORN
In 1989, God chose that one Sunday School class to become a mission--which is a baby church. Led by Pastor Rudy Gomintong, along with the grace of God, and under the care of the FSBC of Ewa Beach, the Filipino Bible Mission was born. The Filipino Bible Mission held its own services, Bible Studies, and Sunday School. As the years passed, the congregation began to grow in numbers.
THE MISSION BECOMES A CHURCH
In April 1997, it was time for the mission to grow up and become a full-fledged church. The Filipino-International Baptist Church was born and constituted. At its first church meeting held at the Gomintong's residence, the congregation spent three hours organizing themselves into God's many services in the church. Many ministries were formed, most of which are still going on strong today. Currently, FIBC holds a congregation of about 75 people, and God is still blessing us with more numbers.
THE CHURCH GIVES BIRTH TO A MISSION
In June 2002, FIBC began to have birth pains--because it gave birth to a new mission. Pastor Rudy Gomintong, after shepherding FIBC for five years, stepped down from FIBC in order to become the pastor for the Hawaii Christian Baptist Mission held in Waikele, O`ahu, Hawai`i.
FACING THE FUTURE
After being pastor-less for nearly four years, God blessed FIBC with a new pastor, Pastor Peter Magno. As FIBC continues to grow, so does its members. Through faith, FIBC will continue to do its best in fulfilling God's mission of sharing Jesus with everyone.
