After losing a hard fought battle against Pomezania in the previous game, the boys of Fianna were looking some payback.

We had 3 subs, but the green and white were without Alfie, Anders, Dan and Dave Powers.

As the game started, Fianna controlled the play well, and demonstrated that they were not rattled by the previous outcome when these two teams met last time. The opening goal was an indication of how the game was going to play out, when Adam Froh launched a long free kick that was recieved by the opposing defense which was in turn mishandled by them, and a goal keeper way off his mark saw an own goal give the boys in green a 1-0 lead!

Although it was nothing to gloat about, it definitely did give Fianna the edge and lifted morale. However this edge was short-lived, as shortly thereafter, a mis kick on the defense of Fianna saw the ball squeeze under the arm of Ash Noureldin and then slowly trickle over the goal line to tie the game at 1-1, and all of a sudden it seemed as if the match had turned into the battle of the own goals action.

Right after this odd start up, the midfield and forwards began organizing well, and many individual efforts by Daryl and Fabio were either saved by their keeper, or shot wide. It seemed something was cooking though. And sure enough it wasn't long before Kevin steered home a second goal for the green and white with a terrific effort!

You could feel the momentum shift, as Pomezenia undoubtedly began to look frustrated, and confidence overtook the Fianna side. And confidence is exactly what Fianna's next goal could be described as, as Steve cruised down the left hand side of the field closer and closer to the edge of the 18 yard box where he slammed home an impossible shot that cruised passed the Pomezania keeper straight into the back of the net with nothing the keeper could do but watch in awe as the ball tore passed him. Undoubtedly one of the best goals of the season for Fianna! This made it 3-1, and things were looking great at the end of the first half. Defense was solid after an unfortunate start, and the midfield and forwards found a rhythm that was proving to be hard to handle for Pomezania.

The second half started off with confidence and high spirits. Daryl once again had a great individual effort on target the that keeper stopped well. Midfield and Offense demonstrated a lot of skill in all aspects of the game, especially when it came to winning balls, and maintaining possession and passing. Jaime, Rick, Jeff, Kevin, Steve were all showing impressive skill.

Roughly 20 minutes into the half a Pomezania counterattack saw an attack out run the defense and walk in and blast a shot off Ash's hand into the back of the net. Furthermore, as the play stopped, the defense tripped on a sprawled Ash Noureldin, resulting in his already injured ankle getting smooshed by the jolly green and white giant in Brian Leetch. . Shortly thereafter, Ash couldn't continue to play, so Daryl once again took the sweaty mits with the score at 3-2 for the green and white.

Although Daryl played well in net, the Fianna defense were beaten two more times on counter attacks, which caused two more quick goals and for the first time, Fianna suddenly found themselves trailing by a goal 3-4 after being up by two goals..

Filipe had a pretty good chance next, as he took a free kick outside the box which sailed wide of the net.

With time running down, Rick subbed back on after taking a hard hit and slamming his head into the ground which undoubtedly did not help his hang over situation. However after being on for roughly two minutes, the Fianna offense once again proved capable when Rick slammed home the fourth goal tying the game at 4's a piece!

This is how the game ended unfortunately. It would have been nice to have collected 3 points to push us back into first place, but with the one point, Fianna is still in contention to win the league should our next results be victorious.

Man of the match would definitely go to Rick for taking the beatings he took, and scoring the all important 4th goal.

Honorable mention goes out to Steve for that sick shot that made jaws drop all over the field.

And a loud shout out goes to the offence and midfield for keeping it together and playing well as a team.

Quote of the match: Adam to Ash: "Does that mean I scored that goal, cuz i was the last one to touch the ball?" ( after his free kick from the opposite end of the field ping ponged off of 2 Pomezania players after it finally stopped in the back of their net)

To answer your question Adam, yes that first goal is credited to you.

*Post game: Upon getting x-rays done on his leg the next day, it was determined that Ash Noureldin will be out for the next 3-5 weeks due to a fractured Talus in his right ankle.* Net minding for the next while will be on the shoulders of either Daryl or Bryan.
