T his year, the Viking Marching Band will be performing songs from modern composers. If you want to hear the original orchestral versions of Joseph Curiale's songs, go to josephcuriale.com, click on cd's, then click on "available at: cd baby" - it will take you to the site and you can hear two minutes for each of the following pieces: A View from the Sea, Call of the Mountain, and Joy - this really makes the music that we're playing make more sense! The orchestral arrangements are awesome! All of the pieces are on Joseph Curiale's recording : "Awakening" if you want to buy it.

"
C all of the Mountain" was written as Joseph Curiale narrowly escaped death in Singapore and was barely alive. When asked about the piece, he said, "The spirit and will of that music to be born was so strong the even 'near death' wouldn't stop it from coming to be."

"
N iagara Falls" was performed by the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps during their 2000 DCI season. Our version of Niagara Falls was custom arranged by our very own Mr. Lang!
