"Hot Jazz For A New Era"
Go Back
T he 2002 Marching Season will be phenomenal. The Viking Marching Band will be over 200 strong this year. 2002 will also be the premiere for our new "Summer Section" marching band.  The section will perform the most challenging drill this region has ever seen! Along with the Summer Section, the VMB has added a new Pit Percussion section and the JV Vikettes will be joining the VMB as the Color Guard. This should prove to be a very exciting year!  The songs the band will perform for their halftime show are:

B oth of these songs were written for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra from Middlesex, England. The NYJO is one of Europe's premiere jazz bands, and is made up of all high school and young college kids, the cream of the crop for England. The Madison Scouts Drum Corps writer, Scott Boerma (click to visit his webpage), arranged both pieces for the Madison Scouts. "Remembrance" is from the Scouts' 1998 show and "Concerto for Guitar and Jazz Orchestra" is from their 1988 show. 1988 was also the year that the Scouts won the DCI World Championships
