Posted 2-28-08 Posted 2-7-08. At the Broken Spoke Club meeting held in Orlando February 26, 2008, the following decisions were made to better serve the retirees as well as other members of the broken spoke club. The Troop D delegate to the broken spoke club stationed in Orlando, Sergeant Chris Blackmon, Troop D Orlando, is the newly elected vice chairman of the Broken Spoke Club. The board also approved for troop R to have three alternate delegates, one in Tallahassee one, in Central Florida and one in the South Florida . This will assure that Troop R members of the broken spoke club will have good representation in all areas of Florida. I also requested that all delegates listen out for Troop R members that need assistance with the broken spoke club and I was assured that they will assist any way they can. The London incident has promoted concerns and I share with you what one of my European colleagues just sent. As long as everyone knows what ICE stands for, it is not a bad idea. A useful thing to add to your mobile address book! It was thought up by an ambulance man/paramedic who found that when they went to the scenes of accidents there were always mobile phones but they didn't know which numbers to call and he thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name to file "next of kin" under. Following the disaster in London . . .East Anglian Ambulance Service have launched a national "In case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign with the support of Falklands war hero Simon Weston. The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone Address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency". In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It's so simple that everyone can do it. Please do. Please will you also email this to everybody in your address book, it won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc. Posted 6-22-05. FYI Effective on 6-1-05 everyone is entitled to a free credit check annually. Below is the site you can use to obtain your free credit report. Please read all the info before you request the report as you can get one free from each reporting credit bureau annually. Hope this helps. Wade Smith https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp Posted 10-29-04. Info from Col. Chris Knight. The following information was received from Annette Grissom at FAST and is forwarded for your information and review. If you carry a cellular phone, Blackberry or other wireless device for the Department, you may want to consider registering it on the "National Do Not Call" list: In a few weeks, cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls on cell phones. Call this number from your cell phone 888-382-1222. It is the national Do Not Call list. It blocks your number for 5 years. Here is online form We have tried the online version and it works as advertised. Chris |
