| My full name is Freda Myree (Howard) Babinski. I was born in Dickson, TN. but when I was only a few months old we moved to a small town called Hegwisch located on the South Side of Chicago, Ill. So for the first 17 yrs. of my life, thats where I was raised. Back then you had to go where the money was and my dad (having a family to take care of) could make a good living there. My dad a WW2 Army Veteran worked for Ford Motor Company in Chicago and after about 16 yrs. or so, he became very ill with Emphysema and Chronic Bronchitis and was forced to take a medical retirement. His Dr. suggested that we move closer to the coast because the salt air would help him breathe easier. We then moved to Sanford, Florida where a few of our relatives were and still are living. My parents, Jenny and Cager Howard had instilled in me 4 very important things to remember and they are: (1) There IS a God and to always Love him more than anything or anyone on this earth. (2) Treat other's as I would want them to treat me. (3) Help the ones in need if I possibly can. (4) Last but not least, to ALWAY'S stand up for what I truly believe in, no matter what. Sounds pretty simple, huh? Sometimes it isn't though. In Aug. of 1983 my dad passed away. We were very close as you can tell by several poems I've written about Fathers and Daughters. I also have one sister that's 2 yrs. older than me. Her name is Lou and she has 2 daughters, Audrey and Angela who now have families of their own. My mom who is also an Author, goes by the pen name of "Jenny Wren" who has been a huge inspiration for me. She's been writing poetry and short stories for many yrs. Mom is loved by all who have ever met her. Being in her mid 70s, she is by far a very wise person and one of the few women I truly respect. I'm also a Veteran (US Army) married to a Vietnam/Gulf War Veteran who was also US Army and is now sick. In July of 2004, we'll be married for 18 yrs. I love animals for which we have 2 dogs (Marijah & Ciara) and 1 cat (Ki Ki). The other 2 dogs and 1 cat have passed away. The cat "Sammy" died in Oct. 1994 and my precious dog "Charlie" died Easter morning, March of 2002. Baby was the most recent one to pass away and she did so in Oct. 2002. You will find their pictures along with their personal poems in the Poetry section of my website. In my opinion, they all suffered and died from the very same thing that my husband suffers from which is called Gulf War Illness that he got serving in the first Gulf War. I started writing poetry in 1991 after I became disabled from various illnesses. My husband Lyle was serving in the Gulf War at the time. I was alone and had allot of time on my hands but God soon fixed that. I know it's a gift because I had NEVER written poetry before. Well since then, mine and God's poetry have won various Awards. I also have 2 books out now which I make myself therefore you can ONLY get them from me. The books are called Heaven Sent Vol. 1 & Vol. 2. Allot of my poetry can be seen many places on the net. It really has changed my life and I'm very grateful for it. I choose to donate the money I get for my books to a charity of my choice, minus the cost of what I need to make more books. "MY GOALS" My goals are to do all I can to help make this Country a better place to live. Finding the truth for the families of the ones left behind in ALL Wars and bringing those American's HOME where they belong. Then there's the Undiagnosed Illnesses known as "Gulf War Illness" AKA, "Gulf War Syndrome" for which my husband is now suffering from. This illness has been the cause of thousands of deaths from the one's who served in the first Gulf War. What I'm seeking is the TRUTH because so far, there is NO CURE. I also want to see public awareness made of this horrible injustice that's been inflicted on our Veterans and their families for which they had absolutely no say in the matter. I also want to see that EVERY Veteran past, present and future, gets better medical care for their service to our Country which preserves our freedoms whether it be in a War or during Peacetime. Each one of these wonderful, brave, unappreciated and mistreated human beings are called, "VETERANS." We should always remember that when our Soldiers take that uniform off, it doesnt mean that the pain, the hurt, the illnesses or even the memories simply disappear, because they don't. That's about it on me and how I feel yet as time goes by I'm learning every single day how to care so much more about others. That is a MUST in this Country because "FREEDOM" like it or not, ALWAY'S come with a price. God Bless each who cross this path. I hope you'll like what I've created for you. If you have time, please sign my Guestbook. I really would like to know you were here. I hope you will stop by again. "God Bless" Thank You! Freda 6-14-04 |
