There's a certain good feeling you get when you buy something really cool and expensive...
We bought a tandem bike on Saturday!!!
Me and Lan were looking around for the last week, test riding some at different stores. Although we liked the Cannondale they had at Aurora Cycles, the only one's they had in our price range were the mountain bike models, and the road models were too expensive. But at REI (which doesn't have all that great a reputation for bike sales) had Burleys on clearance, and they were pretty darn cheap (relatively speaking of course). The truly surprising thing I found when investigating buying a tandem was that the used prices are so darn high. I think they keep their resale value much better than a single bike
We had been to REI earlier in the day, but we were back in downtown without a car because we were checking out a book fair and didn't want to pay parking (we took the bus). We decided to buy the tandem, and took the bus to REI. After we bought it, we borrowed two helmets and rode the bike back to our house, about 13 miles away. It was great.
The next day (yesterday), we took a 20 something mile trip from our house to Marymoor Park, and had sort of a picnic at the park while watching some people play flag football. It was a blast.
Now to save money and pay for it...
