my candy book
Hello there,
I have been writing "artist statements" because I am applying to grad school. I find it quite challenging. In some ways I enjoy it because it is kind of arbitrarily chosing a path through a knot of ideas, but in other ways I rather like the ideas messy and without a guide. Sometimes pulling the ideas out of suspension ruins the mixture. Every time I sit down to write my hair catches fire. I mean, my thoughts about the work seem to expand exponentially like a breeding population of mice on a wolf-free planet of cheese. I could easily write 50 pages, but I can’t write 500 words. Anyway, most of the time it's more fun to DO than to talk about doing, but sometimes it's like waiting for a movie to be released; the anticipation is often more fun than the film.
And on a completely unrelated note, I am still quite interested in the ideas of Susan Blackmore, and I found an interview with her here;

I'm not sure if this will make any sense if you haven't read "the meme machine" but I assume most of you have. According to Farley Mowat, wolves find most of their caloric intake in mice.
