exotic mops
I just finished recording a final verson of "tripping in a cardboard box," a song that I started over 4 years ago. I guess I first wrote the melody when I was hiding out in Oosaka. It's been fun because I am using reason (on Chet's computer) and it's pretty inuitive. I like programmes that work the way you would instinctively use them. I am always amazed how much academic bullshit there is on-line about eronomics, post-modern theory and silly one-upsmanship on nerdy blogs, but that most products continue to be clunky irritating dangerous and stupid.
The song itself is funny - I have a lot of these strange "fantasy" sounding songs on my PSR-550, but they are all structured with lots of repetition and very loose playing. However, since the section they are supposed to fill is less than 2 minutes long, I have to restructure them, cut the fat, speed up the beat. It's hard to balance this with the fact that I want the song to have a moody, slow-moving feel. I don't want to put up song fragments because then you get the feeling that you are missing information, which is one of the worst feelings. I like this challenge, and I like Chester for fixing my computer problems. It's so nice not to be banging my head against the wall for a change.
Anyway, I don't think I can put music up here so I can't share with all you relentlessly demanding fans.
I have a pet cockroach. He is prety small and cute. He likes it near my computer cause it's warm and there's a lot of content for him to browse, but I also think I saw him downstairs one day. He must really be physically fit, walking all that way!
OK y'all. Keep it real, and don't forget to love each other.
