FUTURE
SCENARIOS A futures scenario is a description of a future event or condition more than 5 years ahead. Notice it says "futures" plural. This means that there should be more than one. There must be more than one scanario or it becomes a prediction and more often than not "business as usual" or "safe" scenario. There are three types of scenarios: probable, possible and preferred. Scenarios should cover the both the best case and the worst case if they are to be useful at all. They are written as if taking place in the future looking back. Scenarios are used for strategic planning for an organization or business. By preparing alternate futures the organisation can best prepare for surprises, competition and advancing changes in the socio-technical environment.
