The references that follow will lead to a variety of resources, some of which are strictly on "environment" and others somewhat more in the nature of "sustainability".

  1) The Worldwatch Institute
The outlook of The Worldwatch Institute is global "because the most pressing environmental issues are global. ... only a global approach to issues such as climate change, depletion of the stratospheric ozone layer, the loss of biological diversity, degradation of oceans, and population growth can be effective".  The web site links to Worldwatch alerts, news and publications.

2) Ecotopia
The mission of Ecotopia is to develop, promote and market methodologies, technologies and products that conserve natural resources and advance our planet towards sustainability through the use of solar energy. This site connects to numerous links on sustainable energy, "ecoeconomics", "ecocommunities ", "ecoliving", "the coming global oil crisis ", and various newsrooms.

3) Econet
Econet , "connecting people who are changing the world", with headlines, news stories, and action alert

4) The Electronic Green Journal
The Electronic Green Journal provides peer-reviewed articles, book reviews, news, and information on current printed and electronic sources containing international environmental topics.

5) Environment Canada
The federal government's Environment Canada site, " The Green Lane ".

6) The International Institute for Sustainable Development
The Winnipeg based International Institute for Sustainable Development web site provides a wide variety of links and information about sustainable development including climate change , trade, major environment and development negotiations and conferences, and the "Sustainable Development Gateway".  Their "Dashboard" program provides a wealth of data on Society, Environment, Energy and Institutions for over 60 countries.
