By staying up until 3 a.m. on two consecutive nights, I was able to find enough time for a few games of WarCraft III. I wish I had more time to play WarCraft III and to devote to the clan. Unfortunately, I don't have much time for either. Enjoy the replays.
Blizzard patched WarCraft III without actually changing anything important (even skipping over the Dragon abuse bug). The biggest downside of this patch it that it makes all of my replays in my archive obsolete. I'm still saving all of my replays (even from v1.00) in hopes that Blizzard will at some point fix the incompatible replays issue, but I don't see any real point in posting the replays from our recent Tournament, as nobody will be able to watch them. Blizzard, finish balancing the freaking game, and fix the IMPORTANT bugs, not stupid ones!
Meet on the Lordaeron servers in channel AKW to play. Check the tournament tree to see who you'll play next. The tree will be updated after each match is reported. REMEMBER TO SAVE ALL OF YOUR REPLAYS!
For the first time in Buccaneer history, Tampa Bay is going to the Super Bowl! They've been my favorite team since 1996 when they hired Tony Dungy to be the head coach. They were soooo close in 1999 when they lost to the Rams in the NFC Championship game, but in only their third appearance in the NFC championship game, they routed the Eagles today 27-10. GO BUCS!
There is a new section of the website. In hopes that we'll have many successful tournaments over the next several months (eventually with more players involved), we've added the 'Tournaments' button on the left-hand navigation bar. The rules and time for our next tournament have been posted, so be sure to check it out.
The details on our upcoming WarCraft III Tournament have been finalized. The tournament will be double elimination and will take place on Saturday January 25, 2003. Exact time to be announced at a later date. All games will be played on the official Blizzard version of the "Garden of War" map. First place prize is $20. Second place prize is $10. Third place prize is $5. I know, it's not a lot, but hey, there is absolutely no entry fee, so shut up. There will be a Tournament page added to the Navigation Menu this weekend, with more details on how the tournament will be handled, and a chart with the seedings for players to see who they're going to be pitted against.
Some people were complaining about the design of the site, and while the old design looked great when viewed in 1024x768 with Internet Explorer, it didn't look too hot in other browsers. So, I've tried to make a site that looks good even when viewed at crappy resolutions (like 800x600). I realize that the site now loads slower (it will also be harder for me to update), but I'm trying to make it look better for you guys. It took a lot of time and effort, so if you don't like the design this time, you're just out of luck. More WarCraft III strategies are on the way. (Specifically two new strategies for the Undead). I have to thoroughly playtest them before posting them, and I'm having trouble finding as much time as I'd like to, to play WarCraft III. Also, more information on our clan War3 tournament will be posted early next week, so be sure to check back so that you'll know which map to practice on.
Happy New Year to you all! I've been busy with friends, family, and work throughout the holidays, and haven't had any time for this site. However, I have begun writing up some more strategies for WarCraft III. They'll be up either tonight or tomorrow. I hope you all are practicing your WarCraft III games, because I'd like to have a clan tournament sometime in January. I was thinking of selecting one map that all games would be played on, and making it a double elimination tournament. Anyway, I'll let you know more of the details as they get finalized.
I've added a new article to the strategy section of the site. It's not a specific strategy for any particular race or any particular game. Instead, I've written a few tips on how to effectively control your units in battle. It's not a difficult concept, but will yield positive results on your gameplay. If you've ever wondered how I beat you in a particular battle that you thought you should've won, I probably just had superior unit control. Learn how to micro, and you'll easily win battles that would have been very close otherwise.
There is a new Night Elf Strategy for you to read in the strategy section of the site. It's quite a fun one to do, and while fairly simple, it's very effective. I've also updated the Members section of the site with what 'Craft games each member has. While right now, each member has every game, there will be a time when some member only have certain games, and this way you'll know what you can play with who.
Well, it's been exactly one month since FGG was officially formed, and the website went live. I was hoping to have a new strategy to post in celebration of our anniversary, but unfortunately, time constraints prevented that from happening. I also want to make you aware of a few things. First of all, If you'd like to post a replay or strategy on the site, go ahead and send it to me, and I'll post it. This is a site for the entire clan to post content...especially replays, but also strategies. Also, be aware that there are still site improvements that are being worked on, and more content is on the way. Keep checking back, and be sure to submit any ideas, suggestions, concerns to BleakStare.
My close friends know that my weakest race in WarCraft III is the Undead. Now, I've struggled to win with the Undead since v1.01. What's even more funny than my pathetic lack of skills with the Undead is that during the beta test, when I was reading all I could about WarCraft III and the strengths and weaknesses of each race, the race I thought would probably be my strongest and fit my playing style best was the Undead. However, after months of pathetic play with the Undead, I've found a strategy that I have been able to win with the Undead on multiple occasions. For me, that's quite a feat. I've debated on whether to write up a detailed strategy guide for this particular strat, but I've finally decided against it. While I do want to share strategies with you guys, and hopefully help you all become better players, There are a few nuances (that may not be readily apparent when watching a replay) involved in this strategy that give me an advantage...if I were to spell it out for everyone, I'd lose that advantage. Anyway, long story short, I'm not ready to tell you everything about my new strategy, but I'm willing to let you see it in action, and try to duplicate it yourself. I got the idea for this strategy from a chatroom, on B.net. A fairly high ranked player mentioned that Mass Ghouls with Auras when backed by Necros was almost unbeatable in team play. Not being a big team player, I decided to see if I could adapt that concept to a viable 1v1 strategy. After tweaking it for more than two weeks, I've made it into something that more often than not, gets me a win.
My internet connection has been fairly laggy recently, so I've spent more time playing StarCraft than WarCraft III recently, as it's more latency friendly. Anyway, the end result is that there are FOUR new StarCraft replays up for your enjoyment. I still wish that WarCraft II had a replay feature, as I love to play that game, and I know that some of you would really love to see how I play that game so efficiently. There is a third-party WarCraft II replay program I'm looking into. If it works well, and you guys are interested, then I'll start posting those too. I'm working on writing up a fairly effective Undead strategy. It should be up this weekend.
Dual Heros prevail over a singly Hero. Uh oh...sounds like trouble.
There's a new strategy for WarCraft III. This time it's for the Night Elves, and it even includes a replay showing exactly how to do what is written up. It's rather good stuff if I do say so myself. Go check it out. |
