On the surface, Paine seems very reserved, but she has a gnuinely compassionate heart, and beneath it all is far from a killjoy. Paine mostly keeps her past to herself, though she was once close friends with the three faction leaders of Spira: Nooj, Baralai and Gippal. She primarily joined the Gullwings so that she could fly on an airship like they always wanted - just like the dream they all once shared.
After Vegnagun was finally defeated, Nooj, Baralai, Gippal and Paine renewed their friendship, and have once more become close. Paine continues to walk the path of a Sphere Hunter, embracing the closeness of her two companions, Yuna and Rikku.
