Cool Fact: When a baby elephant is born it has no shortage of helpers. A baby elephant is very well protected by his mother and the entire herd. Orphan elephants are occasionally adopted by a female elephant who will look after it as if it were her own. As the largest land animal in the world, an elephant requires about 330 lbs. of food and 20-25 gallons of water a day.
