The Power Of Love Part 28 (general) When Devin returned to his chamber he sat down on his bed and thought about his conversation with father. He doesn't know what prompted it but it was long overdue. Now all he has to do it is not screw things up. A few minutes later he got up washed his face and hands and left to see Paracelus and Megan. . Devin was still excited about the progress he made with father, he had to tell Vincent. When he stopped by their chamber, Vincent was lying in bed holding a sleeping Catherine in his arms. Vincent was watching her as she slept.. Seeing the protective, yet gentle loving look upon his brother's face made Devin smile. Feeling is presence, Vincent motioned for Devin to wait a moment. Removing Catherine's head from the crock of his arms, Vincent laid her gently on the pillow. With his warmth gone Catherine stirred and called his name. "I am still here my love." "I will watch over you now got back to sleep." Smiling she whispered "I love you" and snuggled into the covers. After placing a soft kiss upon the top of her head, he responded "I love you to" than went to see Devin. "Hi Dev." "Are you getting ready to go see Paracelus and Megan"? "Yep." "But I had to stop by and tell you what happened in father's chamber after you left." Devin saw the surprised look on Vincent's face when he said father. "Yes you heard correctly." "You're not going to believe this Vincent." "After you and Catherine left father asked if we could talk." "He told me he was proud of me." " He loved me and he asked me if I could find it in my heart to call him father." "I don't know what made him have this talk with me but we're making amends." Giving his brother a hug , Vincent said "Dev that is wonderful news." "I am glad you stopped by to share it with me." As the two brothers exchanged hugs neither noticed the satisified smile on Catherine's face as she pretended sleep. When Devin left a few minutes later Vincent returned to his chamber to discover Catherine was awake. "How long have you been awake sweetheart?" "I had no sense of it." "I know." "I haven't been awake long." "Feeling your surprise and happiness woke me up." "But I didn't want you to know." "I am sorry my feelings woke you up." "Nonsense Vincent." "Sharing our connection is incredible." "I love having your feelings wake me." "As I do yours my love." I take it you heard our conversation?" "Nodding her head with a smudge smile on our face." "Seeing it Vincent knew." "You talked to father didn't you sweetheart?" "Just say I gave him a tiny little push in that direction." "Father did the rest." "However you did it my love, I don't know how to thank you." "No thanks needed." "I am just glad it worked." Honey since baby Jacob is still sleep, I think I'll rest too." "Why don't you go see father. " I feel you are anixous to talk with him." "When baby Jacob wakes up and is fed and changed we will meet you at father's chamber as we wait for Devin." "Should he get there before we do, please come get us sweetheart." "I don't want to miss anything." "I promise I will my love." Kissing her softly on the lips Vincent left. At the same time Devin arrived at Paracelus and Megan's chamber and found Megan alone. Perfect. . "Hello Megan." "Was breakfast to your liking?" "Yes it was delicious." "Thank you for asking." "It was my pleasure." "Where is your father?." "Oh one of the senties came by to see if we were ready to wash up and change." "I let father go first hoping you would come." Seeing the looked on Devin's face Megan smiled. It's not what you think." "I never really have anyone to talk too." "Whenever a sentry comes by father monopolizes them." "He is always so busy planning something he rarely has time for conversation." "You seem easy to talk too so I waited." "I see." "So Megan, as he took a seat beside her on her cot, what happened to make you end up here.? "It's a long story Devin." "Tell me anyway." "I have time." "All right." "About three years ago I lost my husband and son." "It was devasting." "I had no where else to go but to my father." "I had something of his anyway."" He took me below." "After letting me morn my loss for a week, he told his plans for Vincent and the tunnel world." "I didn't want to do it at first but father can be very convincing." "At times even cruel." "So I went along like the good daughter he thought I was." "Having gotten into it, it than became my obession." "I guess I have more of father in me than I thought." "I can never go back and change things." "My loss was my punshisment." "But I think I did what I did to your family because it was my way of aflicting my pain onto someone else." "I regret it now." By seeing the pain and the mist of tears in her eyes Devin figured she's either telling the truth or a very good actress. He'll know soon enough. Taking the handkerchief gallantly out of his pocket, he gently wipes the tear rolling down her cheek. "Megan, taking her hand in his, you can never take back the things you did but it's never too late to become a better person." "Beleive me all of us have done something we regret." "Some things maybe worse than others." "Devin are you one of these people who has been there and done that asked Megan?"
