The End Of A Dream Part 1 By Shirley Johns Father knew Vincent was suppose to see Catherine tonight but his past love Lisa returned Below and he did not go Above. No one knew she has coming back. It has been fifteen years since she left the tunnels to pursue a career in dancing. She had been the love of Vincent's life when they were teens until father sent her away. His concern was do to the obvious, Vincent was starting to desire her and in his desire, he had unintentionally hurt her. To protect them both father did what he thought was best. He knew she would eventually break Vincent's heart when she left him to go Above to dance. To spare his son the hurt and pain he sent her away earlier than planned. It took Vincent a very long time to get over the incident and the loss of Lisa. Now that she has returned, some old wounds will resurface father was sure of it. He just hopes Vincent is strong enough to deal with them especially now that he and Catherine have fallen in love. "Dear Catherine, thought father, your are like a daughter to me and I do not want to see you hurt in anyway". Father had found it hard to believe at first how deeply this beautiful woman loved his unique son. She is a very wealthy woman from Above and she would give up everything to be with my son. The strength of the love she has for Vincent and the Bond they share still amazes me. Vincent , though he loves her with all his heart, will not let her give up her life above to stay with him. He feels she would never be happy. He has discussed this with his son numerous times but Vincent is stubborn and feels it is best for Catherine to remain Above. Catherine was patiently waiting for Vincent to come to her. She had a special dinner planned. When 11pm came and Vincent did not arrive nor did she get word that he would be late, she got concerned and decided to go Below. At the same time Lisa decided to go see Vincent in his chamber. He was not ready to see her yet. Once he learned she had returned his mind and emotions were in turmoil. He had put aside the quilt of hurting her so long ago or at least he thought he did until now. "Vincent as she entered his chamber, how have you been asked Lisa?" Raising out of his chair, Vincent turned toward her and said "I am well ." "It is nice to see you Lisa." "My Vincent, look how you have changed." "The boy I once knew has grown into a very impressive man stated Lisa." "You have changed as well ." "You have grown into a very pretty woman Lisa" said Vincent. Going into his arms, Lisa gave him a kiss on the cheek and said "I love you Vincent" just as Catherine walked in. Hurt by what she heard and saw with tears in her eyes Catherine turned and ran from his chamber. Placing Lisa quickly away from him, Vincent ran after Catherine. "Vincent what is the matter, the question was left unanswered when Vincent left the chamber. "Catherine wait" said Vincent and she stopped running. Taking her in his arms he asked why she ran awayin tears?" "Looking down into her eyes he gently wiped her tears away. "I saw you and that woman kissing Vincent." We have yet to share a kiss." "I was worried about you when you did not come to visit me and now I know why." "I came Below to make sure you were alright and I find a woman in your arms and you were sharing a kiss." "How do you expect me to feel." "It hurt deeply Vincent ." said Catherine. "I am sorry Catherine I never meant to hurt you." "it was not as it seemed." "Catherine that was Lisa the girl I told you about from when I was a teen." "She just arrived unexpectedly today and was glad to see me." "That was all my love." As he looked at her he saw the hurt in her eyes, the tears upon her face and her lips were slightly parted. Without thought he lowered his head and they shared their first kiss. The electricity they felt when their lips touched caused them both to gasped. Their kiss went on forever. Neither wanted to stop but they needed to breathe. After they separated Vincent held her close and they looked into each others� eyes. Moving toward her Vincent was just about to kiss her again when Lisa came into the tunnel.
