Shared Dream Part 1 soft R By Shirley Johns Last night was again disturbing for Catherine. The same dream has invaded her slumber for a week. Waking up cold wet and frightened. She's alone in a dark place where there is water. Glancing at the clock on her nightstand 3am, the same time as before. Rising out of bed she went out on her balcony. So lost in thought this night, the beauty of the city was unnoticed. Feeling the night chill, she rubbed her arms and returned to her bedroom. Sitting at her vanity looking at her reflection she said, "Vincent and I usually share the same dreams but not this one. During the past few days, we have seen each other. Neither of us has mentioned the dream." He knows something is troubling me and he has asked. (His concerns for me ever present). To keep down his worry I told him I was fine." Getting back into bed, she pulled the covers under her chin and closed her eyes. When sleep eluded her she decided to read. ****** For the third time this week, Vincent woke up in a cold sweat, his heart beating erratically and the sense of fear surrounding him. "What does it mean?" He asked father's advice two days ago. He did not know what to tell him. Sliding out of bed he went to his writing desk to think. "Although Catherine is trying to hide it from me; can this be the source of my love's turmoil? I feel her unrest. Pulling out his journal he began to write: I woke up again last night in a cold sweat and a sense of fear was surrounding me. I believe this centers on Catherine. It is too fragmented to determine its meaning and she is keeping silent about it. I want to help her. Maybe together we can determine the reasons for this. When I see my love tomorrow night, I will ask her to share this with me. Until then? leaving the sentence open he closed his journal. She woke up feeling the morning sun warm her face. The dream never came back. Sitting up, thinking (today is Saturday the beginning of my weekend Below.) "At 3:00 Vincent will be meeting me at the basement entrance." Stretching she climbed out of bed to shower and change. Having completed her toiletries she ate breakfast. Next week will be busy for she and Joe. They have a big case coming up. Going to her nightstand, she pulled out the materials for the case. She will review its history until the time came to meet Vincent. Three o'clock came and Catherine left for the tunnels. Climbing down the ladder, strong arms encircled her waist lifting her the rest of the way down. (His gentle touch warming her body) Looking up, her love for him shining in her eyes, she said "thank you Vincent." Overcome by the love he saw there, he lowered his head stopping a breath away from her lips. His voice was huskier than usual, when he said; "you are welcome Catherine." Taking her hand he said "Catherine I have waited all week for you to tell me what has you so troubled. I think the time has come for us to discuss it. Let us go to my chamber where it is more private." Part 2 Shirleys Fanfic Index |
