Shared Dream Part 17 Catherine and Vincent stopped as Paracelsus ordered. �You two come back in here now, he shouted.� "Paracelsus, please Vincent is hurt he needs help, pleaded Catherine." "Too bad my dear, he shouldn't have been so gallant by taking your bullet said Paracelsus." They were stepping back into the chamber when Kanin entered from another entrance. "So boss is he here as I said he would be?" "Yes you are a good informer." "I couldn't have done it without you." "Kanin why have you done this?" asked Vincent. "We treated you as family." "Because Vincent he said, pulling out a gun, he offered me more." "You see Vincent, the right persuasion can turn anyone around stated Paracelsus." "Yes Parascelsus the right persuasion could but I am not one of those people and Kanin shot him in the arm causing his gun to hit the floor. "What have you done Kanin?" "You were supposed to be on my side." "You betrayed me, shouted Paracelsus." "Come on now do you really think I would help you Parascelsus?" "I pretended to be your ally only so we could rid our community of you once and for all." Catherine released Vincent long enough to retrieve the gun and said, "it seems Paracelsus your reclaiming of the tunnels will never come to pass." Than Kanin asked if Vincent was alright?" "He has been shot in the chest and seems to be holding on advised Catherine." "Good said Kanin everyone you can come out now Parascelsus is down." To Catherine and Vincent's surprise, there were people from the tunnel community everywhere. Than Kanin spoke, "Vincent you have protected us for a long time and the entire community felt it was time we protected you." "We have been with you ever since you left for the falls." "You were never alone in this." Vincent slowly walked toward Kanin and shook his hand; "I owe you and everyone else our lives." "'No Vincent it was time for us to repay you for our safety over the years." Said Kanin. Catherine ran into Vincent's arms being careful not to hurt him, "come sweetheart let us see to your wound." After Vincent's wound was tended, Catherine held him close and with tears in her eyes said, "you have such a wonderful family." "Come my love let us go" said Catherine and they headed on their long trek home. After tying up Paracelsus, everyone else left as well. An hour later Catherine and Vincent arrived at father's chamber. "Father I have returned with Catherine as I said I would." "Son I am so happy to see you." "I have been so worried after I had heard you had been shot." "Yes I was father but it is not serious stated Vincent." "Let me be the judge of that." "Come sit down Vincent." "Catherine dear how are you and the baby?" "You were not harmed in anyway?" "The baby and I are fine now that we are back with Vincent." "Catherine you seemed troubled what is it asked father?" "Father it is my fault Vincent is injured, he took Paracelsus' bullet aimed at me." "Dear Catherine said father, I would have done the same thing for the woman that I love." "Catherine do not blame yourself." "Vincent loves you and will do anything to protect you." "Father is right Catherine, " said Vincent, I would do anything to keep you and our baby safe." "As I would you Vincent" and they smiled at each other, love shining in their eyes. As father looked at Vincent's wound, he asked what Parascelsus had planned?" Catherine told him " he was using me to get Vincent to come so that he could kill him." "He knew as long as Vincent lived, he could not reclaim the world Below." "Father he had no intentions of letting me live after he lured Vincent to him." "Thanks to Kanin and the rest of the community, we are all safe now." "Father what happens with Parascelsus now asked Vincent?" "Well he must stand before the council to be exiled from our world forever said father." "We tried that before father and he came back stated Vincent." "How do we know he will not do it again?" "Vincent I do not know what else we can do." "We cannot just kill him in cold blood." "No we cannot father but is there a way we can keep him confined here in the tunnels?" "Could we use a cave as some sort of prison? "We can keep him locked up and still provide him with food and water; life's essentials?" 'I guess we could Vincent." "Let us call a meeting later tonight and decide Paracelsus' fate." " I want you and Catherine to go to your chamber and rest." "You both need it." "I will have food brought to you soon." "That will be fine father , we will see you later tonight." Before they left father said "Catherine, Vincent good to have you home." Together they said, "it was good to be home and they went to their chamber for some much needed rest."
