Only You Part 3 (pg-13) by Shirley Johns The persistent ringing of the doorbell woke Catherine up. She looked around. It was daylight. She had fallen asleep on the patio floor. She sat up. Hugging herself the cool air giving her a quick chill. She thought of last night. What happened between she and Vincent? "How could a beautiful evening go so wrong?' The pounding on the door interrupted her thoughts. "Catherine are you in there?" It was Steven. She got up her body was aching but not as much as her heart. "Had she lost Vincent? The tears began to fall again. "Catherine are you in there?" "Yes Steven I am coming." She reached over the couch and retrieved her blouse. Her thoughts drifted again to last night. The memories will be with her forever." Will Vincent come back to me.�? "Catherine please open the door." Coming Steven and she unlocked the door. "Well it is about time". "I have been trying to call you all day. " "It is after noon already." Catherine looked at the clock in her livingroom 4:00 PM. "I must have been tried Steven." Than she looked at her answering machine it was blinking like crazy. There had to be quite a few messages on it. "Catherine, Steven came inside, I thought we were going to spend some time together today." "Steven I am really not up to it." He noticed her eyes were red and swollen "Oh Cathy honey what is wrong he hugged her to him. " " It is nothing I want to talk about Steven." "Come on Cathy we used to always talk together." "Steven that was before. I have a new life now." "Well something has you upset. Is it your boyfriend?" She heard the sarcastic way he said it. "Steven please I do not wish to talk about it." "All right Cathy." "I have some exciting news to tell you." '"What Steven?" "Cathy I brought a house." "About an hour drive from here. " "You have to come see it. " It is our dream house." "Steven we no longer have a dream house.� �I meant it is my dream house. Anyway I want you to come see it with me." "I don�t know Steven. As I said I am really not up to it." "Please Cathy it would mean so much to me." She thought about it. Maybe the drive would clear her head a little. "All right Steven I will come with you." "Oh Cathy thank you. It means lot to me." He hugged her. "Now Cathy are you sure you do not want to talk about what is bothering you?" "She could hold out no longer." "My boyfriend and I had a misunderstanding that is all." and she started to cry. "Oh Cathy honey, he began caressing her back, I am here for you." "Remember how you would be upset about something and you would talk to me?" "We would make love and you always felt better." "Yes Steven I remember. " She felt his hand cup her breast. "Steven stop that. " She tried to pull away. "Come on Cathy, sex always made you feel better." " Besides I am sure you and what's his name have had plenty of it." " I remember how advantageous you were in bed." "You were one hellva sex kitten." "Steven that was in the past." "Please leave it there and I was not a sex kitten. "Are you getting hot and bothered like you use to when I caressed your breasts." "Let me see if you are, he grabbed her nipple between his fingers." It naturally hardened. "Yes you are. " "Come on Cathy let's make love." "Steven let me go." "I am not going to make love to you and I have told you that before." "Cathy you used to play hard to get as one of your sex games." "Are you doing it now?" "Steven I never played hard to get sex games with you and you know it." " NOW I am telling you for the last time let me go." He finally did, hearing the tone of her voice. "You use to be fun. " "Has he changed you?" "Steven that is none of your business." " I think you better go." "Cathy I am sorry I have been out of line." " I will not step out of bounds again." "I promise." " Will you still go with me?" "Steven I do not know." "Come on Cathy, I do not know how much longer I have and I really want you to see my new house." She reluctantly agreed. "All right Steven.""Come back around 7:00. " "Then 7:00 it is. " He kissed her check. "See you than and he left." After he was gone Catherine thought about what she agreed too. Was it a mistake?
