The following morning Joe woke to find himself alone to bed. He looked around seeing no sign of Diana. He found a note lying on her pillow.

Joe thank you for everything. I woke up realizing you probably would not want to find yourself in be with me. Maybe it was the drinks, the loneliness. Probably both. I wanted to spare you the gruesome reality of what happened between us.   After last night it would be so easy for me to fall in love with you.   We were going to pursue "us" but I did not want you to have to face me with second thoughts.   You deserve love as you told me. I am letting you off the hook. Go find the woman of your dreams.

I am leaving in a few days. I don't know where I am going or how long I will be gone.

Joe crumbled the paper in his hand; he did not want it to be over. He had no second thoughts. When he made his decision to pursue their relationship he had meant it. "He could easily fall in love with her as well." "Maybe he already has." She had this effect on him, when he first met her. He did not know what it was until now. Despite what Diana thinks, he was falling in love with her.   He thought that there could never be another woman for him after he met Catherine. He knew she was madly in love with another. So he would remain a bachelor forever. He was wrong. He could see himself with a home and children with Diana.   I have to stop her from making the biggest mistake of her life. Letting the love between us go.

He quickly got out of bed, showered and changed. He had to keep Diana from leaving.

Catherine woke up, feeling deliriously happy. The way Vincent made love to her last night was remarkable to say the least. How could any man contain some much sexuality? Ah but Vincent in the lovemaking category and quite a few other things, was no ordinary man. God I love so. She rolled toward him, needing to make love and found the bed empty. She guessed he was at the falls. She would stop by Mary's chamber to check on the baby than go there.

Vincent was washing up at the falls. He woke up with an ironclad erection. He had loved Catherine hard all night, a snug smiled appeared on his face, he had felt the great pleasure he had giving her." "It was amazing to say the least. Diana had come Below to tell Vincent and Catherine good-bye. She stopped by their chamber it was empty so she decided to try the falls. She got there to find it empty as well. She turned to lave and something caught her eye in the pool. "Oh my god, it was Vincent he was floating face down in the water. He wasn't moving. She quickly removed her clothes and jumped into the water. She went to him, shaking him, he did not move. She turned him over on his back she saw a nasty gash on his temple. She pulled him over to the side, laying him on the steps. He was so heavy she could not get him to the side of the pool. Time was of the essence. She had to bring him around. He began trembling he was so cold. She had to get him warm. She lay on top of him, giving him her body heat and began breathing in his mouth giving him air. She tried once twice, it wasn't working he must have swallowed a lot of water. She tried again.
Finally he began to stir, coughing up water, thank god. Before she could react he whispered Catherine and hugged her to him. He began moving beneath her. She felt his penis hardened between her legs. He was still slightly delirious he thought she was Catherine.

Had this been yesterday Diana would have taken advantage of the situation. Joe made her see things in a different prospective now. She went to pull up; he tightened his grip on her waist. She began moving on him trying to free herself, calling his name Vincent no. I am not Catherine let me go. She continued trying to free herself calling his name, Vincent, please let me go it is Diana not Catherine. She felt his grasped loosen a little bit. Thank god she can get free. Unfortunately before she could Catherine entered the falls. Diana heard her gasped, she quickly turned around, Catherine stood there with her mouth open, eyes bucked out, she saw Diana between Vincent's legs.

Before Diana could say anything Catherine ran from the falls in tears. Oh shit, now what do I do?"
She couldn't leave Vincent to run after her. First things first let me get him fully awake. She moved away from him and he moaned a moment calling Catherine's name than he opened his eyes. Her pain brought him fully consciences. He went to sit up, and grabbed his head. He was slightly dizzy he looked around trying to find Catherine he had to see her she was in so much pain. His eyes adjusted to the blurry figure across from him and found Diana with her hands covering her nakedness.

"Oh my god, Diana what happened here, when he noticed his own state of undress." "I don't remember anything except being at the falls, his eyes locked with Diana's and empathized "alone."

"Vincent I see the anger in your eyes." "This is definitely not what you or Catherine think."

The situation as it was temporarily forgotten when Vincent felt Catherine's pain once more. It was terrible. He had to go to her. "Diana you have some explaining to do." "But Catherine is in pain I must go to her." "We will discuss this later and he got up to leave."

"Vincent wait, I know the cause of Catherine's pain and I am sorry."

"What did you do Diana?"

She heard the slight growl in his voice, Vincent was very angry. "I did not do anything intentionally to hurt Catherine." She heard his growling again. He was getting angrier. She knew she better explain what happened and very fast. "Vincent let me explain before you do something you might regret later." "I came here to say good-bye to you and Catherine I am leaving town." "I went to your chamber it was empty so I came here." "You were floating in the water unconscious." "I removed my clothes and jumped in after you." "I turned you over you had a nasty bump on your head, he raised his hand and felt it. "I pulled you to the steps." You were cold shivering." "I used my body heat to warm you as I breath air into your lungs." "You scared me a few moments when you would not come around." Finally you did." "You were still delirious." "You called me Catherine and pulled me against you." "Your grip was strong." "I began moving in your arms calling your name trying to get away." "Thinking I was Catherine you started to hardened." "I finally got through to you a little bit and you loosened your grip." "Before I could get off of you I heard Catherine gasped behind me." "I turned toward her and called her name wanting to explain this was not as it appeared but she ran away in tears."

"Oh god no." "The pain she must be in thinking I was with you, he almost spat the words out." Without another word he ran from the falls as fast as he could. He had to find Catherine.

Diana grabbed her clothes and quickly got dressed. Vincent will sort things out with Catherine their love is too strong. The sooner I get out of this city the better. She ran from the tunnels as fast as she could not paying attention where she was going she collided with Joe.

"Oh my god Joe." "What are you doing here?"

"I came looking for you Diana." "I figured you would say goodbye to the tunnel community before you left. My hunch was right." "Diana I got your note." "We need to talk."

"Joe there is nothing to say." "I said everything in my letter." "Good-bye Joe she turned her back to him and went to leave.

"Diana I am in love with you."

His words stopped her in her tracks. She turned toward him, with tears in her eyes, not believing what she had heard, "what did you just say Joe?"

"I said I love you Diana."

She ran to him, tears streaming down her face." "I love you too Joe."

They began kissing and hugging. Whispering words of love to each other. Arm in arm they headed back to her loft. They had a lot to talk about.
